The pepys closed on 27th June 08,
I managed this lovely pub for over 4 years and found it sad to let it go.
The great team i built i had to pass them on, they did me proud.
I have met some wonderful people over the years whom i keep in contact with.
On leaving i have helped at the sir paul pindar on bishopsgate, Liverpool st and this week i started a new managment venture at The Prince Of Wales Featers on Warren St, so stop by and say hello...!

I wasn’t aware this place had shut until now. Personally I found the place to be a brash and noisy pub that, if situated anywhere else, would be the sort of place that would be spewing out troublemakers at closing time. That said, if you wanted somewhere to watch sport, this was probably the best place in the area. There were at least 5 well placed screens and whilst the beer selection was rather standard (Pride and Bombardier) and unimaginative, it was reasonably priced and service was quick even though the place was heaving with punters getting ready for an England match. The interior was a bit pub by numbers with little in the way of focal points or features but comfortable enough and I was able to find a seat despite the crowds. Also had a well placed pool table, not exactly common in Mayfair. Not the greatest place but it does leave a bit of a hole for this type of place in this area.

Had a nice visit here in late 2007 and popped in early on a Saturday afternoon hoping for a repeat. As it turned out it was to be their last Saturday as a pub. Said to be closing on June 27, 2008 so that Sainsburys can expand. Met a barber who lamented he'd been visiting the place for 40 years...

Most of the lines were empty as the pub wheezed its last breaths.

Cented, my dear fellow why didn't you challenge this oxegen thief to a duel?. If i owned this pub I would personally overhaul all the staff in their and start over again, with a slick and professional bar staff. Who the hell does he think he is talking to you and your wife like that, in future you should just walk away from these places and then the owners would soon see the errors of their ways. Remember it is us good burghurs of London town that pay their wages. I cant believe the amount of reports on BITE that have encountered the same treatment for rude, surly and aggressive bar staff. People wake up and dont stand for it. demand quality.
