Our second visit to The White Horse. Food was great and a high quality. Would highly recommend this place to all our friends. Have no hesitation in coming back

The White Horse is a fantastic family pub. The food is well above average pub fare, but does not go in for gastro pub prices. There is a great, kid friendly garden with a small menagerie (chickens, goats), a bouncy castle and plenty of room to run around. The proprietors are friendly and very welcoming and the staff has always been attentive.

They do a good bit of special events, which are always well attended. The White Horse really makes an effort to attract business and the regularly full car park is a testament to its hard work.

I only have two complaints- one, it's a Green King pub and I'm not a fan of their beer. However, there is almost always a guest ale and I can live with Abbott if I have to. Secondly, it can be hard to get a table as they are so busy. Book early and plan for a leisurely meal- it's worth the wait.

Last note- try the White Horse burger- best burger I've had at a pub bar none.

We visited the White Horse on Saturday evening - 9th April.

We were eventually given our menus and advised 4 items from the main courses were not available. One of which was the risotto - one of only two vegetarian options. We were then advised there was only 1 portion left of the other vegetarian option. I was embarrassed for one of my guests who was vegetarian. Whilst it had been a gorgeous day and the pub had been busy, this was not acceptable.

The food itself was usual pub fair and nothing special. The service however was very poor. The girl serving us was completely uninterested, only half clearing the table before she left to go and chat to her friends behind the bar.

Very disappointing overall - will not be coming back.

We stopped at the White Horse impulsively early one evening, having never been there before and there being no cars parked outside we did not have high expectations and tentatively opened the front door fully expecting to beat a hasty retreat, what a pleasant surprise we got.
A warm friendly welcome, two staff behind the bar (no pub with low turnover is going to have that number on duty at 6pm so this was a promising sign), a few people sat at the bar looking very at home, many of the tables occupied and most of the remainder were reserved. We decided to stay for a quick half and left 3 hours later having had a thoroughly good evening and a lovely impromptu meal out. Since then we have been back regularly and have taken visiting family members there.
We cannot recommend the food highly enough or the atmosphere, Neil and Kate (proprietors) are excellent hosts and have created a wonderful pub to visit either for a swift drink, a long night out, or something in between.
It has now become our local despite not being just down the road.

I'm afraid I cannot share the negative views of pubfan247. During a one week business stay in the UK I spent most of my evenings in the White Horse and I never got the impression of being served microwaved or convenience products. Whenever I looked into the kitchen - there are two windows pointing to the patio and garden area - I saw Neil (owner) and his assistant cook instead of using a microwave.

Also the toilets were clean all through the week. I got the impression that the washrooms are being cleaned and checked regularly and never saw anything like dirt, dust or any other thjings that could be called "dirty".

I cannot comment on the beer price though as I have no comparison. The relevant factor for me was that the pints were signifantly cheaper thant at home in Germany. :-)
