| This is without a doubt the best real pub for miles around. Despite living 12 miles away we have been regulars here for more than 20 years. (what's wrong with 1979 anyway, previous reviewer?). Run by a very friendly family, good beers and lager always well kept, excellent value pub grub and used by lots of friendly people. | When I walked into the Castle, it was like coming out of Dr Who Tardis to about 1979! The pub was busy but a lot of those there looked like local flotsam and jetsam. Decor is VERY dated and has the feel of a mediocre pub from the 1970s and 80s. On the plus side, prices are quite low and service fair. fender100 - 5 Feb 2010 15:50 |
| Used to drink here in the 80s - great pub with fab atmosphere. Re-developed bar areas since then but still a proper pub with fod and several real ales. Had Doom Bar this week which was excllent ... will be going back. thefatsausage - 17 Oct 2008 00:45 |
