This pub has a lively atmosphere especially with regard to sports, which is why my friend and I popped in to watch the second half of the world cup final.

All seemed good until the final whistle and the landlord said to us we need to buy drinks if we want to watch the football! We were suprised to say the least, as the football was over and we had already bought four drinks (Bulmers - not particularly cheap either) of which the empty bottles were on the table next to us. He mumbled something after we pointed this out to him, but it wasn't an apology that's for sure.

I'm angry at how he talked to us, and disappointed at his lack apology when he clearly made a mistake. My advice is to drink here for a lively atmosphere and to watch the footie or rugby. However, please make sure you ALWAY have a drink in your hand or you run the risk of being talked to like sh*te.

Thumbs up to Spain, but thumbs down to the landlord! ;)

Visited this pub at a quiet time, only three other drinkers, so the place appeared even larger inside. The London Pride was OK no other choice but keg. Not the worst pub in Reading by far, but if you like sports maybe it could be your sort of place

I don't mind this pub - the London Pride is usually OK (£3 pint) and the bar staff friendly enough. Worth a visit now and again.

A large open plan bar area, the solitary London Pride pump gives some hope of a decent pint among a sea of Keg fonts and I was not disappointed with the quality of the ale. A splendid interior by Reading standards with some hints of a fine old victorian pub and some ghosts of a former life as a Scruffy Murphys.
The single bar is a u shaped area with lots of TVs showing sport to a mainly male clientele, there is also a well patronised smoking area on the front pavement area.

I almost gave this place a miss looking at the unremarkable exterior. However it’s a fairly decent pub, friendly, well presented and with Sky Sports on a number of TV’s dotted around. There’s just one handpump with London Pride but it was in good nick and seemed popular. I also stayed for a Sunday roast which was good at £8.
