user reviews of the Gateway, Reading

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This always was and will be my favourite pub in Reading. Its got the best Guinness in town and I must have drunk a few barrels of it from here. The landlord seemed like a top bloke when I met him and he has done a good job of sprucing it up from the Spirit Group Days.

A bloody good pint of Pride (though that was the only ale) and a comedy Elvis tribute act tonight. Also apparently a hang-out for London Irish fans. Some comfy corners to be found for a quiet pint.

Not worth going out of the way for, but a good 30 min stop if you're there.

Proper Irish Pub, none of this Plastic crap...you know where I'm talking about!! ;-)
The Landlord moved here from the Wishing Well, pity it's a bit off the beaten track from the main pub area, I think alot more people would grace it's door's if they knew were it was.
Great Pub, Get yourself down there!!!

Slan,

Rory

Previously Scruffy Murphy's

Is now a genuine non-chain pub. Have 3 tvs where they'll put up just about any sport you'll ask. The most genuine Irish pub I've found in Britain yet. Great pint of Guinness.
On big sporting occasions, the landlord brings out plates of free food. Has RTE, the Irish national TV channel.
