| No frills town boozer with the bar to the left as you enter and a function type room to the right of a central corridor. Fairly plain décor with proper pub seating and Britannia tables, there is a small shrine to Newcastle United at the back. Facilities also include a small TV and a fruit machine, the back wall and the bar are decorated with the pump clips of many counties. Six handpulls with Camerons Strong arm and John Smiths Cask as regulars plus four guests, Mordue, Brakspears, Moorhouses and something from Fox & Morrisey when I visited, all the available beers including the usual keggy stuff are listed on a blackboard by the bar door. Came across as very much a locals' boozer. Long and narrow interior that hasn't been decorated for a few decades but has TV screens that was showing sport on my visit. Wonderful choice of good quality ale on offer and a friendly enough atmosphere. Rod_Hariga - 15 Mar 2009 11:27 |
