The Half Moon, Cuxham - pub details
Description
The Half Moon is a beautiful 17th century pub situated in the hamlet of Cuxham, not five minutes drive from the picturesque village of Watlington. The interior is cosy and the ambience everything that a good English pub should be – but this pub has something a little bit different about it, and that’s a distinctly French touch.
Philippe and his partner Debbie took over the pub in April 2011. Being French, Philippe loves what he can’t get in his homeland, and that’s an atmospheric English pub with great English beer. Being English, Debbie loves what she can’t get from her homeland, and that’s traditional French food and a large selection of regional French wine. So they decided to fuse the two together and create a taste of France in a very British environment.

Very much a foodie pub, can't comment about the food as we were just passing by and stopped for a drink. Seems to be very popular on a Saturday night. Large garden, with plenty of seating, that were we had to go as there was no space in the pub itself, good thing it was a nice warm evening. Sorry, but I hate pubs that go totally over to food and have no room for casual drinkers by the bar or at a few tables. Bar staff none to bright - asked for a dash of lemonade with my JD and got a glass full to the brim. Obviously, some training required! davidfthorn - 26 May 2010 07:45
What a great little pub. Small and very friendly. Food absolutely fantastic. Although I suggest you book if you do want to eat as it's very popular. Only down side is the lack of real ale. But I highly recommend this pub. love_our_pubs - 16 Mar 2009 11:31
Used to be a run down dreary little pub, but has been made into a cosy warm place with a good sized garden during the warmer months. The food and 'feel' is rustic but every meal I've had has been exactly how it looks, hearty food cooked by someone who loves his flavours. This is not a rural retreat that has kept its character in the atmosphere and food If your planning a visit make sure you drive slowly through the village. Prices are a little high but you come away feeling you've had a good meal. I know thats sounds obvious, but try it. Some places are all fuss but little care. ashhutton - 28 Jan 2009 23:07
Had a birthday dinner last week food was good, so was the service. Found drinks quite expensive though. stevenbrt - 17 Oct 2008 10:15
Top place - lovely food, nice beer and cracking owners. A real pub, and one the whole village should be proud of. HmmmBeer - 3 Oct 2008 16:46
