user reviews of the Golden Pheasant, Burford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I used this pub/hotel when i stayed in town. Don't use it as a hotel, report on another site. Small bar with a bland seating area, again given over to food. Greene King at the bar so had the Old Tripp, which still tasted ok, considering Greene King now brew it.
large fire to keep you warm

Since it has re-opened, under new ownership, this pub/restaurant has been transformed from a boring empty local to one of the best pubs in the area.
The staff are extremely friendly, the food is very tasty and the atmosphere is just what your looking for if you want a nice meal out or just a drink with some friends, I would strongly advise you to check The Golden Pheasant out as I went last saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed my self. All credit to the new owners.

... and that's The Angel, not Nagel, before any fish pick me up

Only pub in Burford that's open where a non-resident can get a drink on New Year's Eve afternoon without a ticket. Don't usually eat but ate here New Year's Eve and was huge meal for reasonable price (less than half of what The Nagel round the corner was charging). Seems a little characterless in the afternoons and too many armchairs for my liking. Has different "vibe" about it in the evenings. Landlord and landlady very personable. Not bad. Rating it 1 higher than I normally would for the food and the fact it was open
