Since the owner sacked the useless kitchen management and took the overal control of the kitchen on his own back the transformation is truly amazing. As the owner has two other local businesses he trusted the management to his chef, the council ripped this guy apart and he gave the pub a zero hygiene rating. this was not helped by the apauling state of the building after the baxendales wrecked it. The pub has 5 great real ales, Adnams broadside and explorer, London pride, spitfire and a guest ale. There are two ciders on tap and looks like addlestones is on it's way making it 3. There are 4 lagers and Guinness. Who would ever think it was the same pub as it was 3 years ago. Richardmid - 26 May 2011 21:51
The Greyhound has truly lost it now. No real ales, certainly nothing from local breweries. The food is poor, the service is even poorer. Now blessed with the Crawley News title one of the 10 worst places to eat in the area. Not a chance of another visit!!! creepycrawley - 1 Apr 2011 21:48
to the last reviewer. Instead of not going back maybe you should change your mind. There is a new chef and Sunday roast specials. You will be surprised missylr - 29 Jan 2010 15:34
Thought we would give this pub a go following a refresh to the outside recently. We ordered 2 Sunday roasts which took 30 minutes to arrive and in the time we were waiting only 1 other order left the kitchen therefore the kitchen was not swamped with orders. When the food turned up the plates were cold, the roast potatoes were cold and the vegetables were cold. The cauliflower had black bits on it (it was obviously on the turn). The only thing that was hot was the gravy which was served separately. The yorkshire puddings were those frozen ones which were not cooked in a hot oven so looked like a small undercooked pancake - not at all the homecooked food which the posters outside advertise. We complained about the lack of heat and was advised that the food would be reheated. We did not fancy eating a roast that was going to be reheated as this obvioulsy meant a stint in the microwave so made a decision to leave. A shame really as the pub obviously has some character bit I will not be going back again! TAD520 - 26 Oct 2009 11:40
Please ignore all the previous reviews you have read about this pub.In January 2009 The Greyhound has been re-opened with a new landlord and bar manager. I expect at this point now you are raising your eyebrows, but read on. From Monday 18th April the outside of the pub is having a facelift and re-decoration of the inside is on going as we speak. You still have 2 bars . The sports bar has a pool table and a darts board . Not many pubs have either. Tuesday night is pool practice and Wednesday is match night. Sky sports is available . If you are not interested in the Sports bar then you can relax in the Lounge Bar without the sound of music interrupting your conversation. Hungry ? you can try the new menu which is served between 12-3 then 6 -9 . If you are not to hungry there is a Bars snacks menu or The Greyhound Burger menu. Sunday roast is being served from 12 until 3 . The pub sells 4 lagers. Carlsberg, Fosters, Kronenberg 1664 and Stella . If you prefer an Ale try the Adnams broadside or Ruddles occasionally the pub does have a guest bitter. Guinness , Magners and Strongbow are also available. The pub is in a convenient location for Gatwick airport and Three Bridges station. It is nice to find a pub that hasn't been turned into a theme pub or a characterless chain. The staff are friendly and polite . The Greyhound has a very large beer garden , ideal if you have children or dogs . Remember if you are on a walk , bike ride or staying at a nearby bed and breakfast go in and relax before you continue your journey. Give this pub a chance, we need more like this . missylr - 16 May 2009 16:40
