This pub really must decide whether it does food or not. After a spell over winter, only serving instant food, the specials board was up outside yesterday, and we looked forward to fresh fish. On trying to order from the barman, he told us , perhaps shame-facedly, that there was no food this evening. The cook was clearly visible in the kitchen. Prima donna? Fatigue syndrome? Couldn't be bothered? A few pounds worth of takings for food and drink lost there. Won't be back soon.

With Johnny not around the Tripp is falling apart. Used to be the best pint of 49'er in town, now it's barely drinkable. Food quality varies enormously as well these days, can be good but generally is pretty average although to be fair any problems are resolved without question. Bar manageress has a near 100% success rate for serving her friends first whilst you quietly steam with annoyance.

Most of the regulars have departed for pastures new. Such a shame for this once brilliant local boozer.

Offers good value food , decent beers and music nights (is Johnny Lovell related to Sonny James Lovell?). Observes "time" very promptly

Now has Summer Lightning, Ringwood Best and Ringwood 49er. Used to only ever have 49er.
