Spectacular spectacular, following a recent visit to the ship inn on the high street me and my husband were most impressed, the food was fabulous I had the sea bass it was cooked to perfection and a nice size portion it was full of flavour and well season and was like an artists work of art for presentation, My hubby had to no surprise had the roast beef cooked medium- rare it was to cook to the best standard his dish was also very well present, The Ship offers up so much quality at such a reasonable price it really is fine dinning at pub prices, I was so impressed I asked told the young black haired waitress who the star chef we were hiding in the kitchen was ? Dan Pestl and I was even more shocked to discover he was only 29, over all the service we received from our waitress, was impeccable the food was superb I will be returning time and time again. 129mxchick - 22 Aug 2011 15:58
I moved to Christchurch many years ago and this pub was then a 'no go' pub. However it has been reburbished to a good standard and seves lovely food. At the weekend there is a jazz or soul band on which is great, this brings in all ages but is wonderful for the not 'old' but not 'young' crowd!! The menu is varied in the evening with specials also. If you fancy something and call in advance they always have got it in for us. Lunchtimes have a lovely atmoshere especially on market day. Again the menu varies from a three course meal to bar snacks. It is a shame though that some people on here may be advising on another pub/resturant sharing the same name in Christchurch, as this pub does NOT have a childrens menu, and the manager is a lady (and a lovely one at that) and not a man. All in all well done THE SHIP INN ( HIGH STREET) you have the balance right and some lovely staff kimg - 2 Apr 2011 11:00
Classy establishment with a somewhat pricey food operation and decent beer. I mostly go for the jazz (and, BTW their piped music system is one of the best I have heard) Uncle_Dunkel - 21 Oct 2010 16:27
