I came here last Saturday with a group of 7 friends and I totally agree with "non_of_ur_business": it's the best pub I've been to for a long time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, both when I rang up beforehand and while we were there. The Adnams Bitter and London Pride were well kept and the food was excellent. I thoroughly recommend the Ham Eggs and Chips, with the landlord's home-cured ham. We all really enjoyed our visit and if, like we were, you're walking along the Thames path, it's a great place to stop at midday.

Why wasn't this pub open when I was there? The opening hours sign said it should have been, but it wasn't. Instead we had to suffer the initially appealing Bell.

I do not understand the last review at all as my experience when visiting this pub was completely different. I thought that it was the best pub I've been to in a very long time, the staff were smiley and polite, the prices reasonable and the food was outstanding. The waitress was extremely helpful and I was completely satisfied with the service.

It is a beautiful pub in an idyllic little village, all the locals were friendly and everyone seemed to know each other which made for a very warm, inviting atmosphere. Dogs are allowed and it was a joy to see them running around the garden playing with each other. A real happy place to go! I would definitely recommend it and I will without doubt be returning there next time I return to Hurley.

I have been to this pub quite a few times, and must say I wasn't very impresses with it. It's in a nice village, which the pub doesn't suit. Seems to attract the local ruffians.
The food is ok, some of it is nice (namely the fish and the beef and ale pie), but most of it is obviously microwavable, as when I mentioned my nut allergy, the cook didn't know if there were nuts in 90% of the food.
Has the potential to be a good little place, but I think it will take a while.

The Rising Sun has just started doing Sunday lunches and meals will shortly be served during the week.

The first Sunday, John offered roast loin of pork, roast rib-eye of beef and roast lamb, served with cabbage, carrots, peas, broccoli and leeks, with proper gravy and proper roast potatoes.
