Lacking in atmosphere a bit, but still an ok place. Beer is ok, food menu is good for brunch type foods generally. Seems more of a 'wine place' than for beer. Definitely go in here when in the area, but prefer the Rye.

Very good Adnams on here - lovely couple of pints tonight. Also Duchars - Ive never tried that mind - any good? Upmarket largers and very good vino to boot - so good drinks to be had here. Young, mixed, serious (not raving) crowd mostly, but it varies, much like most of the places round here. Great part of London town that the Montpelier is getting to fit in just fine.

I come back regularly now to this excellent local bar, with friends & on my own for a cheeky pint.
I usually have their most excellent burger (possibly the best I've had & they actually cook it medium rare if that's how you want it) but last time I had the roast belly of pork, which sits at the bottom of the menu. It should be at the top, it was fantastically good.
Forget the negative review about dogs. They always make mine most welcome, with bowls of water & sausage treats. The very pretty and attentive blond barmaid dotes on her, which I don't mind at all!
All in all a top pub with great food, top beers and friendly staff...still needs some art on the walls though.
