| A back street terraced pub, with red and white exterior, with some green ceramic tiles - very traditional. The interior had an open plan main room (there was a dining room off the corridor leading to the bogs, i think it was for families, but nobody was in and our family ate in the main room). The pub is small and there are a few tables in what was the dart area (the board is still there). Decor was cream and wood panel and there were lots of old photos, water colours, model ships, and other curios, like a sewing machine, dotted about. The only modern touch was a few twigs with lights on. The food was fine, the service functional, and the clientele few. Background music was of a decent level. Beer; its a Marston's pub, so Banks's Bitter, Ringwood Bitter and Ringwood 49 on handpull. The Ringwoods were fine. Yes, i would happily go back to this pub. Enjoyed it. | This pub seems very clean now, it has some of thethings that make the Boot so good, it is genuinely an old fashioned pub, it does very good Ringwood beers, the service is good, it simply lacks the atmosphere that the Boot has in such abundance.friends recently visited this place gave this a rave review, I can see why but I do not connect with it - it is probably because it is over shadowed by the Boot. slerpy - 22 Aug 2009 21:36 |
| Nice centrally based side street pub with three hand pumps in operation at the time of visit. Good pint of Forty Niner. Food good value. Not so sure about the Friday night entertainment (Mr Tamborine Man) !! But others seemed to enjoy it. BarStallBert - 27 Apr 2009 00:48 |
| Proper little pub this. Stumbled across it on holiday. It has some decent real ales on which is a definite bonus. Marstons old empire was excellent and not something you often find at a pub. Mog - 26 Apr 2009 19:20 |
| Decent enough little back-street boozer. Beers kept well (I only had time for a pint of Ringwood's FortyNiner - which was spot-on). We didn't eat but the food looked really good with generous helpings and seemed good value, although the menu is just typical pub grub. BobOs - 13 Sep 2008 21:08 |
