| Not as pretentious as some Kentish Town pubs though it does angle a bit towards a 'care in the community' end of the scale. Some of the clientelle may frighten the more sheltered of folk but they are generally harmless. Not too grotesque a rip out of a traditional pub. Also has a pool table and juke box. No ale though and even the keg (Kronenbourg in this instance) was a bit ropey. Relatively cheap for the area. Snarling_Mallard - 31 Dec 2010 23:47 |
| This is the only pub my Grandad will go to, primarily because his hips won't allow him to walk too far down the road... Friendly bar staff, the regulars aren't too scary (but then again, if you've met half of my family, I guess nothing will scare you!), but be warned, once one starts talking to you, they won't naff off! Reasonable prices for the area, unfortunately, I haven't tried the food, so I can't comment there. It needs a bit of TLC, and some of the chair definitely need replacing, and it can feel a bit close and dark in there. Oh, and the toilets do need some attention! MsWiley - 16 Dec 2009 00:58 |
| As you might expect from this type of place, very much a locals pub. If that doesn't bother you then it struck me as a reasonable place for a quiet pint. Threatening geezers and psychos were not present yesterday evening - Guinness is now £3 though. pubcollector - 24 Nov 2008 22:58 |
| This pub is one of the best in the area and has really improved since Austin took over managing it. The guinness is excellent as are the draft lagers. Sky Sports available with excellent large screen and a TV to cater for customers, when I visited on Saturday they had football on the big screen and racing on the other TV so everyone was happy! Austin provides and makes home cooked food, e.g. irish stew and fresh rolls and also provides a Xmas party for his customers with buffet and live music every year. Well worth a visit. | This is a pretty rubbish place with mediocre lager that I’ll never go into again. It doesn’t look very inviting from the outside and in the case of this pub looks aren’t deceiving. I didn’t venture upstairs or into the loos as I didn’t want the exit out of my line of sight. Strongers - 10 Jul 2007 14:40 |
