Was in here last night for the quiz and had a thoroughly pleasant evening. Beer range a bit unimaginative (6X/IPA/Horizon) but in good condition. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. I'd give this another go.

Hi Popped in on Sunday afternoon what a change. New landlord just started but I think this pub might just be on the up.
Here's hoping!!!

Yes very quiet and it shows in the Beer very flat indeed they have a manager who is just marking time I think.
What a sorry state for what used to be the best pub for miles

What did I say?

Sign now up saying "Pub to Let", as it's a Wadworths managed pub they are in effect trying to palm it off. End of the day punters vote with their feet and have done here.

Good building, big car park, nice country location - *If the rent was reasonable* it would be a tremendous venture for someone with the intelligence to re-open it as a proper real ale pub with a good, free of ties range. Do this and it would blow every other country pub in the area for miles straight out of the water.

Dead quiet on my recent visit and the beer range was hardly a joy either, Wadworths 6X or IPA in this day and age of choice will hardly pull the punters in. How or why would a pub of this size only have 2 real ales on tap beggars belief - I know it is a managed Wadworths pub but if they put the full range on and carried 1 or 2 guests this place would have much more appeal and might actually pull punters through the door on a regular basis.

The trouble with pubs like this though is that they have relied on the food trade for far too long and took it for granted whilst they let the wet side of the trade go to pot. Credit crunch arrives, oh look now the restaurant is empty as nobody has the spare cash to splash out. Drinks especially the beer, lager, cider are far too expensive and if they don't employ some common sense in their approach here will be yet another of the 5 pubs per day going to the wall I kid you not the writing is so clearly on the wall.
