Visited this pub on Sat afternoon. Good quality beer and friendly staff & locals. My missus wanted a hot chocolate but they couldn't do one, however they did make her a cup of tea which she enjoyed (she had been shopping so preferred a hot drink, unlike me!). Look forward to another visit soon.

always found the beer in here best in skipton, always 3 copper dragon and 1 guest . friendly bar staff , good food menu , small beer garden right next to the canal which comes into its own on a nice summers day.lovely place i go to every time i visit skipton.

Copper dragon ales excellent. Place was empty at 6pm on a friday. Menus looking old and out of date. You would expect staff to notice no soap in toilets after using them, but not here.

The beer is good, Copper Dragon, but this pub clearly hasn't seen much change in the last 20 years or more. There are much better pubs within a couple of minutes walk.

One of my favourite places in Skipton for a pint if I'm there although it's a fairly unremarkable pub on the whole. The best thing though about the Royal Shepherd is its location right next to the canal in Skipton. There is a very small beer garden to the side of the pub as well as few seats out front where you can sit and watch the people and the boats go by. Inside the pub is quite cosy and there is an intimate snug to the rear of the pub which contains a lot of cricket memorabilia. Skipton's Copper Dragon brewery have their range of beers on sale which are generally well kept and newspapers are available.
