The food quality seems to vary greatly. Last time I ate there I had a grilled panini, which had been well grilled but was cold. It can be good though. The ale is good, they serve the delicious Harveys Sussex Ale. Hedonista - 10 Sep 2007 19:58
Top quality food of a very high standard. Most impressed by the menu. i.e. things like Venison. Well presented, served quickly. Woudl definately recommend it for the food alone. Pub looked clean and of a reasonable standard otherwise. anonymous - 10 Sep 2007 13:49
As one of the other posters said, this pub has so much potential - and uses none of it. Five or so years ago, it was a lovely place for a relaxing and quiet beer - but then all hell broke loose when the lovely garden was turned into a children's adventure playground. Also the standard of the clientele has nosedived - used to be decent people but the last time I visited, almost every table outside was occupied by foul-mouthed, drunken neanderthals. Avoid - but don't go to The Fox over the road instead - the competition for the worst pub on the green is too close to call! Get_me_some_Old_Tom - 26 Jul 2006 14:14
hmmmmmmmm, there could be so much potential in this place if only someone had the heart and patience to put to it! I blame tavern inns for its current state! This pub recently went through a change of management, just at the end of last summer. things are starting to look up a little with new manager Penny. however the monumental task in her hands of managing this pub with so many black marks to its name (developed under management of it previous manager) is enough to dishearten anyone. Nevertheless she is a breath of fresh air... at least the is entertainment happening on site on most saturday/friday nights. the pub also serves food, that not to bad either, and roasts on sundays are something to hunt for if your in the area looking. The Greyhound, on the common side, in competion with the Fox on the opposite side of the road, would win hands down during the summer...at least you dont have to try and cross a busy road with your drinks and snacks to get to the green and lounge in the sun with your friends/family/partner in the sun. Picturesque don't you think... just the way id want to spend a summers afternoon in Kent, sunbathing, sipping my drink, calmly relaxing without to much bother... and the ice-cream van not too much of a stmble away. I can't wait for summer! By the way this is a good pub in the area if you've got children because theres a play area in the garden and the menu's offer Kids meals. love_being_a_barmaid - 3 May 2006 01:36
Shame - Used to be a great pub in the 80's when Mick Clarke was the owner. BiggusDickuss - 2 Mar 2006 17:47
