Fairly standard-issue Fullers pub, but the guest beer - Ossett Brewery Snow Drop - was excellent.

The Melton Mowbray has been a reliable pub for a number of years now. Usual Fullers beers and there is often something else interesting, whether it’s a real guest or not I’m unsure. Expensive, but then again aren’t all Fullers pubs. One of it's big plus points is the friendly and efficient service. Food is popular but doesn’t stifle the drinking experience as it does in some pubs. This is a proper city drinking pub, and a pretty good one.

This week coming (22nd-26th Oct) The Melton Mowbray is having a mini cask ale festival starting with Fullers London Porter, Mr Harry and Vintage Ale (8.5% - normally only for the export market) and Castle Rock Nottingham Gold. Later in the week, there’ll be Tom Woods Hop & Glory and Wychwood Hobgoblin as well as the usual complete Fullers range.
The Cellar Bar is open every evening for this week, as two of the much needed handpumps are down there, and provides more of an ale supping sanctuary away from the hubbub of the City

I got the name from a hairdryer...

I agree with f90x. All a bit too automatic for my liking and the ale wasn’t great either. Another ‘industrial’ site which knocks out ale and grabs your cash without a thought for the customers’ wants and needs.

The Melton is a great pub but it has become a victim of its own success. A couple of years ago it used to be easy enough to get a pint on a Friday night.
Now its always rammed with part time drinkers.
Can be hard to get a seat most nights these days.

Still a good place though with a good mix of people. Bar staff are all great and service is quick and efficient.
Beers alright.
Gents toilets stink - really stink.
Pleasant atmosphere. Good male to female ratio.
( Any pub with all female staff is worth visiting in my book ! )

Its also in marching distance of Secrets and the Griffin.

Always busy in the summer. It's not too bad as everyone spills out onto the street to watch the afternoon parade of city girls going home.

Roll on summer..

The place is definitely better than the sum of its parts. I've had some great nights there and go all the time so my rating may be slightly biased..
