| This place looked shut on my approach as the entrance isn’t lit and the front bar area was very subdued with a couple of regulars drinking by the dartboard. As I walked around towards the rear off the pub the music got louder and I spotted the pool table and sofas in the raised area at the back of the pub and some plasmas and TVs for the Sky Sports. There is only a standard draught selection available, but the barmaid was extremely friendly and although there is a St George Cross painted on the wall I wasn’t apprehended by any skin head thugs! There is a selection of Chicago Town pizzas available on the menu to eat in or take away, but I think it would be cheaper to get them from Iceland yourself. This pub is ok for a night out with the lads, but I wouldn’t go here on my own again. Strongers - 12 Sep 2009 01:32 |
| Is a good pub slightly out of the way, with less people so you can get served when you want a drink. Is a shame they got ride of the jukebox spent plenty in there also had lots of great old songs as well as up N coming 'new' hits The refit comfortable seating still has a pool table. Makes the time spent there go passed easy (or was that just the beer) mbaker - 4 Mar 2009 21:14 |
| I really like the Fiddle and to be honest, I do think the people who have written bad reviews sound a bit bitter about something. I went in on Friday and it was very busy, but still a friendly boozer. The old battleaxes who used to work there have gone, and the barstaff are nice. We have been going to the Fiddle for years and it's nicer than ever. You can get your dinner, have a drink, play a game of pool and sometime they have live too. Tosh1 - 3 Mar 2008 20:54 |
| I HAVE NOT BEEN IN HERE FOR A LONG TIME BECAUSE IT WAS FULL OF IDIOTS BEHIND AND IN FRONT OF THE BAR! AFTER READING THE LATEST REVIEW LAST NIGHT, I MADE A POINT OF VISITING THIS LUNCH TIME. IT IS NOW NOTHING LIKE IT WAS, IT HAS BEEN REFURBISHED AT SOME POINT IN THE LAST YEAR, AND THE NEW MANAGEMENT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I COULD NOT TRY THE FOOD BECAUSE FOOD IS NOT SERVED ON A MONDAY, BUT THE BAR STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND THE BEER IS GOOD. SO GOOD THAT I RETURNED FOR A COUPLE AFTER WORK, AND I WILL RETURN SOON! | Contrary to what the reviews say below. This has become a great pub since the old manager left and the new one took over. She has kicked out all the druggies, drunks and full time prats that used to frequent this pub. The food is really good and cheap - pie and chips with a pint for £4.50! I've been told that the reviews below were posted by a customer who was barred, and an ex-employee who walked before they got the sack. ToniS - 4 Feb 2008 11:06 |
