Good pub grub. The New Queen is a Hall and Woodhouse pub with a good range of their Badger ales available. The food menu is standard pub grub with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. The food itself was above average for what it was; the fish and chips, steak and ale pie, burgers, lasagne etc were all served in ample portions. The high quality of produce was refreshing as some local pubs have a tendency to rely on pre-cooked and mircowaved meals, this certainly wasn't the case here. The service at the bar was polite and efficient, our waitress was friendly and did her job perfectly and with a smile. Atmosphere was a little lacking for a Thursday night during the holiday season, the sheer size of the pub can make it seem a little quiet - it is obviously designed primarily as a food pub. It was quite brightly lit (too much for a country pub?) and decor was in good condition. Large garden with tables, large car park and perfectly acceptable toilets too. I would definitely return for another meal.

Have had a nice gastropub-style meal here but it lacks the cosy atmosphere I like in a pub. Recently had to request a refund and walk out as was waiting for food for over half an hour to be told "it's next in the queue". Not sure if this is a rare occurrence or not but has definitely tainted my view of the place. Does have a good, interesting beer selection though.

pub ready for halloween, a lot of cobwebs everywhere.... is good they don`t need decoration for halloween. food is getting bad, service really bad, the lady who was serving at the till she was crying when it got busy, is like they don`t want any costumers. she said: i`m too stressed...:))))) definitely is not her type of job to enjoy...:)))
never back...
my ratings:
cleanliness: 0 (out 5, 5 brilliant)
service: 2
food: 4

play area : 4
garden: 4 (even though, it was a lot of litter in the garden, and no umbrellas)

again me, some changes on the way at this pub, sorry to hear that, but i think that the managers were ``removed``. i think it was a really bad move, visited again the pub on mother`s day and even if the food was the same as always (that means AWSOME), the service was somehow different from the previous week. i think it was obvious that they don`t have a leader and someone to lead them.
was a new guy, was good, but.... somethink is missing.
hope they`re on holyday, but i don`t think. think it will get back where it was.
to bad, was getting better and better, you couldn`t find service like here nowhere around, especially when that landlady was working. since they came it was a big difference in term of food, service and welcoming atmosphere.
hope the company or them think twice... hope to see them back

I've just belatedly noticed the post by rgb. Don't think you can get Brock lager anymore but Badger beer doesn't taste appreciably better than it did back in 1977.
