| Great location with superb river views and lots of outside seating. Beer was OK - not the very best pint of Pride that I have ever had, but perfectly acceptable and very welcome after the walk from Kew. Food seems to be standard pub fare, and the burger and chips I had was pretty good for the going rate of £5.95. My wife had the beef and Old Speckled Hen ale pie, which seemed a bit expensive at £8.25, but she said it was excellent. Nothing special about the inside of the pub that I could see, but comfortable enough and the service was as good as I expect in a pub. Definitely worth going for the setting. | Charity Quiz nights are back on Sundays at 8.30, entry is £1 a person and theres even a Jackpot round which increases each week if its not won. I spent some time there over the Easter weekend and saw the Boat Race and "danced" to a Radio Jackie DJ. There's a new kitchen team headed by Lucas and a new manager, Helen. Maybe the old tub is afloat again! I'll be going back! anonymous - 12 Apr 2007 14:04 |
| Taking on a dangerously large amount of water and likely to sink without a trace unless numerous problems are addressed asap. Go elsewhere. BarnesXV - 13 Feb 2007 13:25 |
| Has undergone a recent revamp - but to our horror they have taken all the excellent pies off the menu! Popped in for lunch on a weekday to celebrate a colleagues forthcoming nuptials. We ordered... we waited... we waited... we waited... finally some of the meals arrived after 45 minutes (we only get an hour for lunch). My lasagne was completely over-microwaved, the bits that were edible tasted like plastic. Two colleagues were still waiting for their burgers and chips 20 minutes after the rest of us finished eating. Terrible service. Avoid like the plague and go the The Railway instead, much nicer. anonymous - 24 May 2006 11:34 |
