We found the Clarence Tavern to be a bit too rowdy for our liking. The Welsh rugby match was being blasted out from the speakers and was being shown on a big screen. Many of the locals seemed to be partaking in Guinness and seemingly attempting to drink 6 pints of it to get a free hat, as it was St Patrick's Day! Nevertheless, this is the brewery tap for the Oakleaf brewery, which we saw on a nearby trading estate. IPA, Some Are Drinking & Hole Hearted were the 3 offerings from the brewery. We drank up swiftly and moved on to the altogether more serene Alverbank Hotel in nearby Alverstoke. blue_scrumpy - 18 Mar 2012 11:37
been there three times in last two months and the beer has been excellent. Complete turn around in a few months sleepy_meerkat - 17 Sep 2011 23:08
The worst pint of Oakleaf Hole Hearted I've ever had, which is surprising given the brewery is spitting distance away. One of only a handful of pubs where I've left half a pint and gone elsewhere. I wonder how often they're cleaning the lines. sleepy_meerkat - 21 Mar 2011 00:26

not a bad pub, but could be so much better, only seems to have one member of staff on most nights, and they keep popping out for a fag so it takes ages to get served. beer from oakleaf pretty good. littlecon - 27 Sep 2007 08:28
