| this pub has gone through many changes in the last10 years but i can say that it is now the best it has ever been. I have just been in there after quite some time after finding them back in the camra real ale guide 2007. Clean , friendly the gardens are beautiful and great for kids and my dog was welcome to. xmas menu looks great and the food is not dull at all just traditional. I have a feeling this pub will need plenty of support in the winter as people seem to have the impression it is out in the sticks!! its only 2 miles or 20 minute walk from newbury town or go to the watermill theatre. too many country pubs are closing now lets try and keep this one open, it deserves our help anonymous - 21 Sep 2007 10:59 |
| Great little pub and very good for real ale lovers - agree with one of the reviews about the opening hours as it's the kind of place to spend a lazy afternoon (big garden to front and rear). Food is a bit dull but honest I guess and the price reflects this. Recommend the pies and steaks. anonymous - 14 Sep 2007 16:06 |
