My favourite pub in Glasgow just now, always a great selection of mostly Scottish beers served in excellent condition by knowledgeable staff. I have to disagree with previous comments regarding prices, the cost of a drink in the State bar is very reasonable and certainly much cheaper than the nearby Bon Accord. KPS - 16 Sep 2011 21:11
Lovely old school boozer with a circular bar, mostly Scottish ales on offer from local microbreweries and competent staff behind the bar. Drank a stout which was dark, deep and very tasty. The best pub in Glasgow after the Horseshoe in my opinion, although a tad pricey! nokegthanks - 22 Jul 2011 14:42
Can't understand why people bang on about Deuchars when there are mpre interesting and exotic beers to be had in The State, Bon Accord, etc. Hey ho. jagsfan - 31 May 2011 15:56
Reminded me very much of a typical London pub, complete with the stand alone pillar things. Good atmosphere and nice mix of people. Deuchars was fine but not great. Along with the Bon Accord, has to be one of the best pubs Glasgow has to offer. Well worth seeking out. Pat_Bateman - 25 May 2011 10:26
There were seven beers by Stewart's of Edinburgh on yesterday- I thought the pub had been taken over by Stewart's, but apparently not. I had two- the SRA (4%) which was fine, and then a 6.2% stout- Cauld Reekie. It was chuffing gorgeous. I like this place a bunch. jagsfan - 6 Feb 2011 17:18
