Even Vicky Pollard wouldn't drink in the Shirley. The conversation amongst the regulars is beneath her.

Once the most 'upmarket' of pubs in the area (thanks Stan and Phyllis), a succession of poor managers has turned this into a place that Vicky Pollard would frequent, and be made welcome. Trult dreadful!

A once delightful pub has been turned into one of the UK's biggest 'chav' centres. With three giant TV screens showing football and horse racing on any given hour and on any given day, it has attracted the real dregs of society, who wouldn't know the phrase 'A day's work' if it hit them in the face. Avoid at all costs, unless you like your women in towelling suits who F and blind more than a navvy.

i would just like to say, that since new management went in last year the place has improved very much, the staff are welcoming, the food is great and the manageress is firm but fair. caught misbehaving and pay the price.
think shes has done wonders with the place since the last manager.

Saw it had been refurbished, so went in for a lunchtime drink and meal. Never again. Althought he bar staff were very freindly, the regulars were not.

The glass my drink was served in was grubby. As for the food. Between us we orderd one suasage yorkshire, 3 steaks, one ham egg and chips. The egg white was spread almost the entire size of the plate, showing the egg was old. The ham was dry. One of the steaks was too tough to cut, let alone eat, the other 2 steaks were chewie. One of the sausages had a piece of blue plastic in it.

The only thing we can say in favour of the place was that the toilets were quite nice.
