| I went today to the Crown and Anchor after hearing great things about the pub. We were blown away by the fantasic fish menu. As I adore fish, I was in my element! I asked for a special fish starter that wasn't on the menu, and the chef personally visited me. He then produced the most outstanding fish soup I have ever tried! To follow, I had the Gilt head bream and my partner had a rump of lamb steak. Wow, it was all cooked to perfection! as were the veg (not at all run of the mill!), and the potatoes. Just great! The service was amazing, and the landlady was so welcoming, efficient and helpful. I enjoted a pint of one of THREE well kept real beers. I was spoiled for choice. Next time I visit, I wont be driving! Can't recomend the pub enough, the change in ownership is a great thing here and we shall be back again aand again!! davegooner - 15 Oct 2011 22:22 |
| if you havent been here before then please pop in and have a drink or something to eat they have a more than large range of fish dishes and other more traditional pub food , try it once what have you got to lose , it is located very well just a 30 second walk to the left of the bus station and the staff are brilliant always have a smile especially the young man DAN you wont find a more happy , polite helpful guy in winchester a very welcome addition and im sure a benefit to the business , im going to become a regular now , so if you want good food , friendly staff and friendly customers then please try here , if you work in the area or just visiting for the day........im sure you will be back. victoria68 - 11 Oct 2011 19:23 |
| Was quite surprised by this place - expected to find a place for the tourists given its location, but this seems a real locals place. Also a Greene King pub with more than 2 beers on offer! Food seemed pretty good value too. Floyd - 25 Sep 2011 19:47 |
