Watched the Rangers Vs Barcelona match here last night. Descending the stairs into the noise and smell of this crowded pub was daunting, but hats off to the bar staff who never kept you waiting more than a few mins for your pint.
Will be back for more.

9.15am last Thursday for a fry and two pints of Guinness to prepare for Lords

all three were first class, especially the kidneys, might be the best I'd had, tender and loads of them

THE place to have a honest breakfast in the heart of the meat market in London. Quirky, rough old surroundings, with blood on the coats of the local traders (honestly). The bar is underground so don't expect natural light. You DON'T go here for the genial atmosphere or child friendly attitude (but they're fine) - you go here to get absolutely slaughtered (excuse the pun) at 7.00am in the morning and have a proper cholestorol fix with 'yer Guiness. Thin, luke warm white buttered toast and weak tea. Devilled Kidneys, black pudding, sausages, liver - NO SALADS.

A group of 20 or 30 of us have been here for our company Christmas Breakfast for the last 5 years. Having moved companies we'll be keeping the tradition going and be doing it again this year.

I rate this as a 7 becasue it's just an unusual place to visit - almost one of those 'must do' experiences in London whether you end up liking it or not. Be prepared to come away wondering what it was all about (but pished, at 8 in morning!!!).

A local gent in Ye Olde Mitre recommended the Cock as doing the best devilled kidneys in London (surely then, the world?) which is more than enough reason for me to give this famous institution a try. I'll let you know...
