Lovely traditional pub, history goes back to 1347! Enjoyed the beer (Butcombe Best Bitter) and the food was great sat by a lovely log fire. Midweek in January therefore very quiet. Recommend parking in the "Park & Walk" if you have a big vehicle like our van. AJM - 25 Jan 2012 22:19
Lovely old pub. Good range of local real ales. Superb food... although a bit more up-market than pub grub. A bit tricky to find... and don't even attempt to get into the car park. Park in the village and walk... you'll see why. jimatgp - 2 Dec 2009 17:48
We were lucky, getting a table to eat on a Friday night on spec, and a place in the car park as well! (maybe don't try it if you have a large car or one too many of their superb local ales!). Did have to wait nearly an hour for the food to arrive, but it was a step or two above yer average pub fayre (they have got Egon Ronay & Les Routiers recommendations) so it was worth it. Definitely recommended. daverrm - 6 Sep 2009 08:14
Stayed at this pub last year. The rooms were great and the service at breakfast fantastic, great sausages Twed. If you are down this way definately worth a visit but in the summer if you want to eat on a Friday or Saturday evening book or get there very early. Even though I was staying there there were no tables left by 6:30. In my opinion that can only be a good sign for somewhere that is so tucked away. gpdrinker - 14 Oct 2008 07:37
Beautiful setting and good beer. Wanted to go back and have a meal there as portents were good but will have to wait for another time. A gem. ndeezy - 1 Nov 2007 20:26
