They call this a family pub. They advertise baby changing facilities on the disabled door but it has none (apart from the floor), they have no childrens play area or gates, children have to be out by 9, the bar staff are ignorant and feel it is a chore to serve you, there is always shouting and foul language coming from the bar during sports. Do your self a favour and walk 10 minutes away towards town. there are much better places.
Old Drain you are a discrace !!!

Can't comment on food because the first chance I had to visit since the makeover, the kitchen was shut! Still, definitely better than before, but as everdean has pointed out, it is crammed with young'uns. For some its one step up from sitting on the wall outside Tesco's! Which is good.

I like this pub. I moved to the area in May 2007. The pub before refit was OK but was in need of a refit. Post refit and the place really smartened up. It is a place for local youngsters to hang out, only because their are few alternatives for them.

I can't agree with the pipes issue as I don't drink that much ale.

I like the Old Lane so much that I spend Christmas Day there with my family. It was our first Christmas spent at a pub and it also coincided with the owners first Christmas there too. The meal was vast and very high quality too. The atmosphere was friendly and warm and my family enjoyed themselves so much that they are begging to go back this Christmas.

The only downfall I have with this pub is like any other pub, you have to walk through a curtain of cigarette smoke to actually get inside.

The Old Lane might have a brand new look with a nice outdoor smoking area but there are certain issues that the oub does have. The most complaints i have heard are about the beer itself and the fact that the beer that comes out of the taps smells off, on investigating this i have to find it true, it appeared that the taps havnt been changed for a certain while making the yeast in the beer off. To add to this is after taking my daughter out for a family sunday drink, i brought her a glass of pepsi and must say that, that to tasted somewhat wrong. this could just have been my tastes but even after asking for a replacement i found it still didnt taste right and the fact my daughter left practically the whole glass i have to assume it just wasnt me.

Another complaint i have to make about the pub is that it seems to be the local hangout for the Pewsham estates 18 - 22. now i understand that its only natural and so on but it does somewhat ruin the atmosphere.

My final complaint has to be about the age restrictions. My friends 17 yrs daughter and her three friends saw The Old Lane advertisement for thier Wednesday Curry night and thought thats something different to do. So wednesday and 6pm they went in and ordered and payed for thier currys and while waiting for their drink were approached asking for ID. Them not being 18 meant they were not allowed to order or eat food without an 18+ person being with them. I may be overeacting but i feel that this is slightly out of order as, 1: they were in the family restaurant part of the pub 2: they were in the pub well before 9pm 3: they had ordered soft drinls with thier meal and finally 4: there was no where either inside or out of the pub any signs or notices stating that to order a meal in the family part of the restaurant you had to have a 18+ person with them. This just somehow seems wrong to me as the pub itself is loosing out on custom and seems fairly ridiculous
