Had a great time at this pub on more than one occasion since moving to st albans. They have great people behind the bar and from what the regulars in there are saying the new guvnor has changed it and its now got better people in and no trouble anymore like it once had.
Shame it doesn't do food, cos its probably only thing missin now, gotta go to another pub to eat, so whoever that's down too, yr missin a great chance of keepin us in longer if you feed us.

I think I've been a bit harsh on this place in the past. OK, so I still wouldn't venture into the lefthand bar under any circumstances but I've been in the righthand side a couple of times recently and downed several perfectly adequate pints of McMullen Country in the company of other jolly drunkards.

Local pub for local people. Beer not great.

This is a pub for local people. No trouble seen but you could sense the potential, a friend overheard a conversation between regulars about them and myself. Service was good and the beer was ok. Not in a hurry to go back though.

Been in here a couple of times recently. The last time, which was a Friday night, they had one guy dashing back and forth between the two bars. Beer was barely drinkable, but luckily I was pissed already and not feeling too picky. This place must only manage to stay open at all because the next nearest pub is the Rats Castle.
