A reasonable range of ale (usually at least three available) and normally well kept - unfortunately it's very expensive here though. Has a lovely walled in beer garden out the back (can be a bit of a sun trap). Serves food of the bar snacks and pub grub variety. Rod_Hariga - 5 Jul 2008 21:01
OVERPRICES £3 FOR A PINT? TURN IT IN. Would not recommend as the beer is not at all very good BAZNPAT - 5 Jul 2008 13:43
This pub is for decent, gentle, wealthy people only. I am enjoying this pub's marvellous atmosphere. No yobs in this nice pub. Needles to say, all the staff are fantastic. Report this for removal CJKOBY - 23 Mar 2008 17:37 How comes CJKOBY has been allowed 3 reviews of this pub, when others have been deleted? "Decent & Gentle" are lovely old fashioned words, that neither describe or ascribe to this town centre pub. "Wealthy" is certainly something you need to be, to afford the extortionate prices. greenandwhite - 29 Mar 2008 21:03

I have been a regular visitor of this pub for 5 years now, and also worked there, and am quite upset to read these horrid reviews of Mannings, a pub I have grown very fond of. I loved working there, the staff are smashing and I have become and remained good friends with a number of them. Also I am offended with the 'grumpy staff' comments, as I always tried to be friendly and welcoming to EVERYONE, including potentially rude customers. I have always found the atmosphere to be cosy and welcoming, and I say well done to the staff who remain there. You'll be seeing more of me! (But take no notice of these comments as I am a 'new site visitor' and therefore my opinions apparently don't count) loolah - 14 Mar 2008 08:54
