We have been now on several occasions since June 2005 and can still recommend this restaurant and bar as the best anywhere in this area and since we have been for Xmas dinner the past 2 years can well recommend that as well.Very good atmosphere and decor.

Cant fault the food or service particularly Sarah who excels at her job! I find the comments on 1 October amazing and think the opposite although I cant comment on the beef as I dont eat it. The veg is always excellent and puddings to die for!

I used to visit the Swan regularly to eat when I could (it was always full). The food was simple and excellent. A couple of years ago the management/ownership changed and since then I have been three times but to be honest have been disappointed each time. It still has a nice atmosphere, although much emptier these days, and food is still better then the microwave from the freezer you get all too often these days.

I do pop back now and again as its local in the hope that things have improved, but my last visit, after I saw it had won an award was the worst by far, bland soup with croutons that tasted like theyd been deep fried in dirty oil, over cooked meat (for me although I know many people like their beef like the sole of a shoe), re-heated/fried roast potatoes and a platter of mixed veg that was presumably all cooked together as the carrots where undercooked, the broccoli over cooked and although the leeks where just right, all the other veg tasted of leek to.

I writing this in the hope the owners read it. A lot of effort appears to go into the presentation, but personally I rather the effort went into properly cooked good ingredients every time, and Ive spoken to a few people now who all have the same opinion, so come on guys, sort it out and youll be fully booked all the time again.

We have been to the restaurant and bar on several occasions since it was taken over by Craig & Sarah, and find both the beer and the food outstanding and would recommend it to anyone ,The chef Craig has just won an area food award for his food and is highly recommended
Booking would be advisable at the weekend
