A traditional country pub with character. Food ok.

When we visited, it was crowded and smoky with locals watching a football match. Our sunday roasts were mediocre - the standard Brake Bros style pub grub. Service was cheerful if slightly incompetent.

This is a real old fashioned pub, which will sell you food on the quiet if you really must eat! It is small with a real inglenook fire, which chucks out plenty of heat.

It has a cosy local ambience with a good crowd of regulars. The ales are superb, the pub having won the Cask Marque in successive years. There is normally a gest ale of some sort.

Best on weekday lunchtimes, I find.
