This chinese junk was once run by a manager called Colin Peers and there will never, ever be anyone to match him. He would live on-board and get up and go and buy all the food fresh from all the markets and then stay up at a function until the very early hours. A guy called Paul Davis was a legend and worked all day and night knocking back large vodkas on the house. The whole working team were great and would always join you for a beer. This place was run at massive expense to the owners and all the staff just helped themselves to the booze but it was worth it as this kept the crowds just coming back for more. The three millionaire owners were all failed businessmen in their own right. Eventually Colin was given the shove and the place fell apart from then. All staff had names like Lesley (Mrs Wonderful), Colin (Tubby), John Rice the chef (Hands Up Skirts), Barmaid Carol, (Slim) and the head barman Gus (Sounds like W Anker). Other characters were Paul Davis who could drink spirits from 5am until 5am the following day and a head waiter called Roland who was caught stealing the vintage port every other day. Another one was Dideier who was also a waiter that couldn't stop eating so we always laced his bread rolls with Tobasco! Then there was gay Jim who made out he was straight and Nigel Lough who couldn't stop lying. A woman called Jackie Sorenson also worked there and her boyfriend was banged up for a long time for owning a drug factory. This place looked to be a well run and kept place during the day but till this day I have never found anything like it - it was great and would love to see Colin back and the old team too. I will go back soon just to relive the memories. I met many a celebrity there and will always remember the laughs we had there. Some of the staff you just wanted to bang on the spot. anonymous - 27 Jul 2007 00:42
Great place to go when the weather's nice, although the smell isn't too pleasant at low tide. If the weather's bad, go somewhere else as the beer isn't up to much. pubcollector - 28 Apr 2007 12:20
Great bbq lunches , gets packed but cracking place to spend an afternoon when it empties out . Venue makes up for the beer quality , actually the Guiness is not bad at all... squatter - 30 Jun 2006 11:11
Great venue when the sun is shining. Beer is ropey though so it's bottles all the way. anonymous - 26 May 2006 15:54
Great riverside pub with large open deck - fabulous in summer! Excellent range of beers and wines. Summertime bbq lunches superb - chef cooks to personal choice on open deck! jackie - jackiebbritton@hotmail.com - 3 Mar 2006 15:18
