Highly recommended with excellent barstaff. Extremely reasonably priced too and beer well kept. About 50p a pint cheaper than most other central London pubs - almost £1 cheaper than the Oxford Arms in Camden... Good atmosphere and well run. It gets busy for a reason.

I'd never been in this pub near my work and decided to drop in this lunchtime for a much needed swift reviver after last minute Xmas shopping. It was very busy (Friday lunchtime - standing room only) but despite that I was served immediately with an excellent pint of Robinsons Mr Scrooge. Others on offer were Brains Party Popper and Theakstons Old Peculier. What a wonderful change from the usual offerings.

Nothing special about the decor - I agree with much of what has been said already. And yes, the barman might just have been Icelandic, but who knows!

Awful place. Small, pokey and rammed. Last time I was there I waited over 15 mins to be served - gave up in the end and went somewhere else - won't be back.

went in this evening , wasnt expecting much as the place was packed , but so i was told by a very friendly barman this was quiet ho hum , couple of real ale pumps didnt see what though as was miles away from them , a outstanding array of fizzy water which i tried , the fosters was nice , didnt try the toilets or the food but was ok for a pint , the football was on and was a good atmosphere but loud n packed

Reasonable for a swift pint but no character. Conversely, nothing to get really angry about. For the better read out there, this is suspected of being one of the pubs that was a principle inspiration for The Midnight Bell public house in Patrick Hamilton's classic novel Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky.
