The food here was very disappointing. This has put me off returning, even though the beer was good.

It's amusing to read reviews that mirror my own experiences over the years. I finally got around to writing a letter of complaint a few months back but was sent a polite non-commital reply. The beer is good but the staff, service and food is what you'd expect from a place with a 'chain' mentality (high turnover of badly paid & trained staff). Good for drinking but not for family occasions.

Had a sunday roast in here the other day and it was rubbish. My cat has better quality beef than the beef they were serving and the potatoes were rock hard.

Have been to this restaurant several times when it was a Beefeater and the food was not up to Scratch it was your basic frozen meal that had been put in a microwave. The good thing that kept me coming back was how friendly the staff were there was never a dull moment. The food now is excellent and the decor inside is really something but I agree with comments already made about the staff maybe they could take some tips from the old Beefeater Staff!!!

Nice smoke free zones in there. Went for Xmas meal last night - very good. Shame some miserable old goat served us - smile love its Xmas! Landlord done well here and you can't beat having Fred as the barman!!

If you want to go somewhere on a summer evening when you've had a few smokes then this is the place. Sit outside & laugh at the 'golfers' slicing their way up the 16th & enjoy a few decent ales. On the whole scrote free which is worth a lot these days.

I have visited this pub with my family on two occasions since the refurbishment and both times could not get a table for a meal, so can not comment on the food but the staff we were greated with on both occasions were not very welcoming and we ended up going somewhere else.

went in for one the other day. the restaurant isn't really my thing but the pub is a lot better than under Beefeater management.
for a start they've got the excellent Hydes range, that includes one or two rather special ales (and they're a local brewers, let's not forget).
the usual suspects lager wise, but also the happy sight of a still relatively rare draught Staropramen. if you do happen to be passing through and need a beer it's worth popping in for either the bitter or Staropramen alone.
recommended (with the proviso that even people from Timperley would only end up here once in a blue moon).

Best advice on this place is to go when your local pubs are doing your head in a bit. Its one of them pubs that are good once every few months. The barstaff are okay and the managers are okay if you fancy a game of cards plus a golf course is full of entertainment on the walk home. I did however see a very drunk irishman in their last time spilling his beer everywhere and blaming "the ducks" - not really sure what to make of that so answers on a post card please!!

I visited the Old Hall at lunchtime today and must say that I do not recognise the above description.
Lunch was good and served by willing and helpful staff. The landlord was friendly and helpful and I wish him and his wife every success.
