please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I completely agree with sharkie1.
This pub has so much potential, yet the incompetence of the bar staff makes going there not an option.
If you like your bar staff to text their friends whilst there is a queue of people waiting for an over priced drink, or to be blatantly rude to you, or to make rude comments about other people in the pub, then this is the pub for you.
Don't waste your time or money.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB!!! I reserved a space for 15 people in this pub one afternoon after completing my Swimathon. We were all up for spending quite a lot of money and after reading awful reviews of this pub, i thought I would still give it a chance as it looked nice and the menu looked good. BAD MISTAKE!!

The toilets were horrendous...after mentioning it to one of the staff, there was still nothing done about it.

They ran out of Bulmers/Magners after 1/2 an hour - on a Sunday, this is a crime!

They charged us £2 for 4 slices of extra bread.

They would not serve us a side of chips as it was a Sunday.

The attitude of the staff was awful (apart from one who actually seemed quite competant - note to you- get out whilst you can!).

We decided to mention something on our way out and the manager was very rude and offered up no apologies. It was unfortunate for them as we were willing to spend the whole afternoon and night there until closing, and therefore they would have got some good trade out of us. They're loss! I shall never be going to this pub again.

Indifferent sort of place when I visited on a warm saturday afternoon. The decor and seating is bizarre however - every possible type of chair and table have just all been thrown together, complete mish-mash of styles. Gives a feeling of incoherence and lack of nerve - i.e. rather than plump for a certain style they just chuck a whole load of things together as if to cover all bases.

Draught Peroni is about the only redeeming feature this obnoxious dive. Ordered a vegetarian sandwich for my girlfriend which arrived with sausages, spoke to the barmaid who served me who then told me that I had ordered sausages for my vegetarian girlfriend! No apology was offered and I was made to feel as if i was in the wrong for something I hadn't done!overall quality of the food was not bad, but the sloppy service needs addressing.

Went in here on saturday before Christmas. It's one of the nicest pubs I've been in. There was a roaring real fire, mulled wine & winter pimms (which I'd never heard if until now!). the service couldn't have been friendlier, we chatted to the manager who seemed so friendly and proud of her pub! I would definitely recommend this pub to all of my friends. You would never know you were in central London!

I popped in here on the weekend with my girlfriend. I was impressed with selection of beers but I was disappointed with the downright snobbery of the staff and clientele. This pub needs to get over itself. There are much better pubs in the area. I wont be back.

Couldn't disagree more with the comments posted. Our office has recently relocated and The Trafalgar has become our regular haunt. The service has been fine and the bar staff really friendly. The drinks are well priced as is the food. The toilets seemed fine to me. The only negative I would say is that food can take a little longer to get, although when we did get it it tasted fab. It's certainly some where I'd recommend to friends.

dropped in quite by chance nothing special, been in a lot worse places, seems to have a decent wine list and selection of beers.

Was a good pub about 5 years ago, now its just shite. rude bar staff and full to the rafters with wankers, avoid!
Precrime - 19 Apr 2006 13:19
Not bad considering where it is. Nicely decorated, good range of beer, ok music, and full of tossers.

Food was good, although the service was pretty crap.

Gents' toilets are a disgrace; only the waste traps are plumbed in on the urinals, which presumably means they don't get flushed. Nice.

This place is owned by Mitchells and Butler, who own, amongst other venues, the Jolly Gardeners in Putney, and the Sun in Barnes. On scale of 1-10 this place is about halfway in between.

One more thing for reviewers of this (and other) pubs: Look up the original meaning of the word "funky". Right. Got it? Never, ever, ever use it again to describe a pub or bar. I mean "Having a moldy or musty smell: funky cheese; funky cellars.
Having a strong, offensive, unwashed odor," is hardly selling the place is it? Or is that actually what you meant?

Decor is ok, staff are good if a bit overworked. toilets are disgusting and the general clientele have more money than manners.

If you go here then take your own disinfectant. The toilets are a disgrace. I wouldn't dare eat here if they are a reflection of the hygiene of this place.

Been here a few times mid-week and found it fine - yes, full of Chelsea fools sometimes but thats to be expected. But I have to say, staff were perfectly ok.

Nice enough for what it is and a huge improvement on what it used to be.

But, have to agree on comments about the staff, just because you work in a pub in Chelsea, doesn't mean you have to act in a rude and arrogant manner when serving.

One final note, are you allowed to drink under age if your mummy and daddy have pots of cash?
Just wondering, because the place is full of them.
TheClaw - 27 Jul 2005 12:40
Ok, wasn't busy so service was fine. Beer was good, nice looking place but the food was cold, potato wedges also slightly undercooked.
lupus - 28 Jun 2005 13:52
This is a nice pub, but the staff are always amazingly rude. It is one of those places where you have to expect to wait for 10-15 mins at the bar even when it is not particularly busy - because the staff couldn't care less if you get served or not.

we go in regularly but last night was the most offensive to date and has made me bother to write this. One particularly irritating barman actually told us to go home then when we commented on a 15 minute wait for a bottle of white wine. When we asked to see the manager (sudden flash of pub rage)the bloke in charge slouched over and clearly didn't care either, just shrugged at us. So, we all felt cross, collected our stuff and stomped off to a lovely little quiet, cheaper and nicer pub round the corner called the Coopers, which is where I'll go first next time

If you like this pub you clearly have no character!

It's bland, the clientele have an average age of 12, and its on the King's Road. Use your imagination
alexburgoyne - 14 Dec 2004 14:50
in my mind no longer the best place ot go for a beer on the kings road it is the only place ot go if you wnat typical trandy pub, it used ot be so much better, why not go round the corner to the brick layers, tht is a gastro pub and does thigs so much better, go to a real pub, the cadogan arms that has football
matthew - 3 Nov 2004 10:17
I really liked this bar/pub. The renovations have done wonders. Definitely one of the nicest places to go for a beer on the Kings Road.

Great atmosphere, good food, and the drinks aren't overpriced. Trendy bar/come pub with entertainment such as a round the tables masseur and magician. Good for a chilled evening out.

A dark dingy dive.
TheGP - 23 Aug 2004 10:58
Since Rob & Tony left this place has gone down the pan and that was a few months back. It re-opened with a full re-furb and was a fun place to drink but now it's dull. The staff ar ecompletely incompitant
Jerry Stilwil - 5 Jul 2004 23:46
Big trendy bar with doormen and lighting effects. Underwhelming.
beeronaut - 19 Jun 2004 06:16
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Can't say I was incredibly impressed. Ok(ish)

Leffe on draught, good sign?
Franz Kafka - 6 Mar 2004 12:47
I really loved this place! We were sat by the open fireplace all night, which was cool. The staff were really friendly and the music was good all night. You have to try the Peach beer - it tastes like Champagne! Nectar!!!
Jody - 6 Feb 2004 12:21
The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is perfect, the food is amazing, the beer is good... What more could you want?!
Tamsin - 5 Feb 2004 00:26
The ultimate sloanes pub!

well hurrah for that!
Lord suffer-fools-not-so-gladly - 30 Jan 2004 13:00
The recently renovated Trafalgar must simply be one of the best new venues on The King's Road. Is it a pub, or is it a bar? Doesn't matter, because it feels just right. Chilled out midweek and funky on weekends, when they occasionally have Dj's subtly adjusting the mood towards the end of the night. They also do great food here during the day. Definitely worth a visit.
