having read the last few comments from people, I'd have to agree that what used to be a great old school pub has been taken over by kids who couldnt give a toss about customer service. they are too busy mauling each other and doing sod all work and yet again, no sign of the infamous 'mav'. it appears that the management team are too busy upstairs to notice that they even have an underaged person amongst them who not only stays there but is seen serving drinks too... me thinks not the best idea if you want to keep a licence now days eh? what a shame that yet another bromley pub has gone down the toilet

This could be a nice pub.
Unfortunately, bad management has driven this once thriving pub downhill fast.
The staff are of poor quality and as mentioned in previous post's, there is a massive drug problem which is why the Beech Tree is know as THE druggie pub in Bromley.
Much nicer down the road in the Farwig where you're always guarenteed sevice with a smile.

Went to this pub last week for the first time in many years and I think it will be the last time for a good few years too!
Uninterested young barman was slow to serve, rude and arrogant and not once made eye contact. Change was put down flat on the bar, even though he could see I put my hand out to collect my change and not once did he say please or thank you.
A young girl who was also working that night seemed pleasant enough though.
Decor was at best scruffy and there appeared to be a distict lack of management in the place. Lazy, crap staff not clearing tables, toilets a mess, drugs being openly sold outside in the entrance, lack of proper smoking areas and a small possee of 'regulars' who seem to think that they own the place.
Avoid this place at all costs...It's an unfriendly dump.

Went here last Friday night so thought it would be a goog idea to post a review here. Appalled to find people are using this column as a forum for having a slagging match! It was not as busy as I expected for a Friday and many of the faces I had seen here before were absent, so I suspect a number are voting with their feet at present. Peaceful enough on the night and the beer was OK. I saw no evidence whatsoever of a drugs-scene and I am very observant! Staff were on-the-ball and nobody was kept waiting at the bar. Adequate.

Something has to be done about this place...and soon!
The manager and her cronies are reported by some regulars to be involved in the whole Becch Tree "drug scene" Someone will get killed in this place if the Bromley police don't close this pub down soon, or at the very least remove the manage Mav Duffas.
You've been warned!!

i would just like to say that i was not part of the drugs problem in this pub and have no idea who mickey margate is or care for that matter. i do however believe the pub has greatly gone down hill.I used to drink there with work colleagues and really used to enjoy a drink there. however, since the new management allowed all the "bad lot" back who were barred for drugs or various reasons, i dont drink there.
I was just pointing out to everyone that if the only good reviews are coming from the manager or a so called anonymous then it just says it all.

the food is fantastic it dont taste or look like your typical pub food ie everything frozen or deep fried the mixed grill is a must

considering mickey margate is barred from most pubs in bromley for doing drugs and being a twat i really wouldnt take his comments to serious av been in this pub a lot recently and it is one of the better pubs in bromley

i would like to point out gordon123, that mickey_margate (and most likely you too) was the drugs problem in this pub. its stupid people like you who give this pub a bad reputation. you say the pub is awful, yet you still come in and i quote "drink its piss weak warm beer" hypocrites...

i would like to notify you all that the message written on 16th July 2007 by Mavdyke was written by the new owner and is not true. I would like to agree with what Mickey_Margate has written as it is awful and has a huge drug problem which the police are trying to deal with but cant quite shift it! I think it says it all when the manager is the one who has to write a good review! Steer well clear of this pub.

On the contrary to the previous post I would dispute the claim that the Beech Tree Management is "steering it towards a very community based environment."
For those of you who like to drink piss-weak warm beer in a scruffy establishment, run by two hairy-arsed lesbians will be in for a treat!

There is always something going on and with an extensive menu and thorough clean up in preparation for the smoking ban, The Pub is headed the right way.
Karaoke or D.J. every weekend, and regular charity events. This is definitely one to visit

Great place, great staff. The locals are a bit of a mixed bunch but all salt of the earth.

I used to work at the Beechtree (about a year and a half) and I can't say enough good things about the place. Clean, honest, friendly and efficient in every way you'd want a pub to be.

Ugly from the outside, friendly on the inside, no real ale (Six continents/Bass/whatever they are called this week strike again) but they do do Cidermaster. Far enough from Bromley North to avoid the crowds of 14 year olds looking tough but close enough to meet up prior to a cinema visit etc. Foods ok in a "sizzling pub" kind of way & I've never seen anyone taking drugs in the place which makes it almost unique in Bromley town centre. Quite an old fashioned sort of place in a way in that it has TV's to watch sport on but doesn't ram it in your face but also has a dartboard when so many pubs are useing the oche space for a few more tables to up thier 'covers'. I like the place but my office is only 40 yards from it so I may be biased.
