Visited The Ship at Allonby during our annual visit to the picturesque Solway Coast. Spent several evenings sat on the benches outside the pub watching the stunning sunsets. Alongside the usual Yates Bitter (3.7%) was Solway Gold (4.4%) - both of which were excellent. Brilliant pub in a lovely location.

A wonderful pub in an isolated, yet lovely part of Cumbria.

Great beer, great staff and friendly locals.

Well worth going out of your way for.

Visited The Ship at Allonby during our annual visit to the picturesque Solway Coast. What can I say, this is just a great pub in a lovely location and it is definitely well worth a look if you are ever in the area. Alongside the usual Yates Bitter were Bees Knees 4.5%, Sun Goddess 4.2% and Solway Summer 4.2% - which were all excellent, as always. The sign outside The Ship sums it up rather nicely: Real Food, Real Ale, Real Craic, Real Pub.

Been here on many occasions over the years and find the owners very hospitable and very welcoming to children letting them play pool, supervised by us. The food is good as well as the real ales.

Report from annual trip to the Solway Coast, for The Ship Hotel, Allonby. Visit date: August 2009. Summary of visit: Yates Bitter and IPA on offer; the bitter as always was excellent, as was the IPA - which proved very popular. Friendly landlord, landlady and locals. Food very nice and reasonably priced. The establishment is very comfortable, with a lounge for dining & drinking and a separate games room that has a TV for watching the footy when it is on. There are a few benches in front of the pub, and in the evening you can watch the stunning sunsets. You can even buy real ale to takeaway too!! A absolute must if you are in the area.

The Ship Inn is a traditional 17th century coaching inn in the centre of Allonby overlooking the unspoilt Solway Firth. The beers are from Yates of Westnewton (just up the road from Allonby): Yates bitter and another ever changing beer from the Yates portfolio. The beers are well-kept, delicious and great value. Food is also available and very nice too. All in all a lovely traditional pub in a marvellous unspoilt location. All in all there is only one word to sum up The ShipFantastic!
