Out-of-season this pub is probably more pleasant than during busy times. The picture shows it as a gastro venue, but the patio is a good place to take a pint, even in winter, if you get a quiet, sunny day (of which Cornwall gets plenty). It's south-facing and sheltered, so as long as the air temperatures a few degrees above zero it's fine. The views are generally less twee and more satisfying than the boaty fiesta depicted above too, given the spectacular marine skies Cornwall boasts.

That said, when we called there was only one ale: Doom Bar.

It was perfectly OK (as it should be, about a mile from the brewery) but it's not one of the most imaginitive tasting of beers. In that regard it perhaps resembles some SE breweries, who seem to see no reason to move with the times.

The interior of the pub is fitted out in modern style, and seems aimed at the affluent young who often visit.

Agree about the Hoorays...but that is Rock in general!!!!!

Not a bad pint though...better pubs in Padstow!

Though pay a visit to Sharps Brewery, just outside Rock!

We love the Mariners for the fantastic view across the water, their welcoming attitude towards dogs, inside as well as outdoors and the pleasant bar staff. Food is pricey but also good - bring back the yarg sandwiches though please! Find the Hoorays a bit much but they are harmless ;-)

Had a pint of chalkys bark, nut sure if its a beer or a lager, it was realy good.
Modern outdoor sort of place, suprised to see a 6 year old girl getting served a pint of becks though, presumably for her dad.

Had a pint of Sharps Honey Spice in here. Bar staff a bit snobby, Prices not bad. I don't know what all the fuss is about Rock. There's hardly anything there apart from the yacht club. Much rather spend my day in Padstow.

Its full of the Kensington-by-the-sea crowd who spoil Rock every summer. Not one for the true pub go-er.
