If you are Orange, and full of your own self importance, then this is the pub for you. If not, go to the Old Maypole .

The best pub in chigwell!

Whenever i go it is full of the most beautiful people.

This combined with fantastic fresh food and perfectly chilled beers makes it a winner in my eyes.

After speaking to some of the staff recently, apparently the pub will close at the end of November for a week or so as they give the pub a major refurb.
Cant wait to see what they do and i have already booked a table for Xmas day!

This pub used to be a Harvester restaurant but has been turned into a trendy wine bar for Chigwell's up and coming footballers wives. If visiting on a friday/saturday night, I suggest taking sunglasses to combat the orange glow of fake tan which hits you as you walk through the door. Somewhat over-priced and can get incredibly packed, especially on weekends and during the hot weather, but a large smoking area certainly helps with the claustrophobia. Probably not the best idea to visit this pub for a swift pint - as I once waited (Saturday afternoon) 30 minutes for service before giving up and moving on.

I visited at 6pm mid-week and it was heaving. The bar was very shortstaffed but the two guys working it were friendly and very efficient. Female manager was quite snotty but otherwise staff were excellent.
Nice beer garden though people were diving about everywhere as they were attacked by wasps... maybe some pest control would be good for the punters' comfort.
Locals weren't very friendly - elbowing and pushing to get to the front of the bar and some very young chavs were being served alcohol. The food was the best part of the visit, really good for a pub.
Overall a nice place just beware of the unfortunate 'edge' created by a few of the pushier regulars.

This is a pub to be recommended to any wealthy drinker, and be sure you have the right car to park outside, its been a long time since I have seen a pub so busy on a friday lunchtime it was packed inside and out,

you know when chavs get older? well, this is where they go. nice bar and surroundings, but full of chigwell 'elite'.

interesting fact, did you know there are more sunbeds in chigwell than there are people?

Went here last Sunday with the family to celebrate my Mum's birthday..... Six of us had three courses each and there wasn't one duff dish. The food is excellent.
Staff aren't as bad as some other comments make out. I came here on Christmas day and they were rushed off their feet and pretty chaotic but seem to have things under control on an average Sunday.
The decor is nice too - just the right side of poncey, and as for the crowd - what's wrong with a few wannabe wags here and there? Gives you something to look at between courses.

I've been to the King William several times to eat as the food is great. The staff could do with being a little more professional though - grabbing each others' backsides, shrieking, chatting to the customers who are their mates and ignoring people requiring service was just some of the behaviour I saw the other night.

They also seem to allow and even encourage staff and other customers to crowd around tables to chat in the restaurant which is off-putting for people trying to eat next to them. The doorway was also completely blocked with people smoking.

I actually really like this place, especially during the summer, but please Mr KWIV Manager, get your staff to behave a little better and attend to the customers rather than just their friends who drink there.

Lovely pleasent place and clean and tidy... But full of posers in there bmw and mercedes. If your car is not on an 06 plate it feels like you need to leave... n go and buy one before your return... or just walk there lol.

Can't believe this pub used to be a Harvester!

Really stylish design, great modern food, attractive staff and great beers (Landlord, Amstel, Staropramen etc...) A bit more expensive than most Essex pubs but well worth the extra money.

It is even fully non-smoking, at last!
