please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Just back from delicious Sunday roast. Medium rare sirloin and good firm broccoli (no mush). Coupled with good selection of Fullers Beers. All in all, highly recommended. Super value for money.
(Take no notice of poor 2009 reviews, hardly relative today).

Wow! Just had to write to share about our weekend. The Elmer Hotel is in my opinion a lovely traditional pub; with a sports bar 'end' Pool table, TVs etc then a quiet restaurant 'end'. The food is freshly prepared and generously served by happy, friendly staff.

The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated and quiet - believe me I was worried about sleeping in a room above a pub - but this was truely hotel standard. Breakfast once again was generous in its portions and most importantly hot and fresh. Cereal was also available but hell I'm on holiday!

A great place to stay with parking and 5 mins from the beach; we will be back :)

Having recently moved to the area, we have a choice of 'locals' in the area and having sampled them all, have decided on The Elmer as our local. The staff are excellent, always there with a smile. The restaurant is great, the food amazing. They also have some very good live music on set nights. We have always been made to feel welcome - even though we are new to the area. I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful pub. Keep up the good work guys (and girls!).

we stopped at this pub whilst passing so my young daughter (aged 11 ) could use the toilet. It was a lovely sunny evening and we sat outside the front of the pub and had a drink.
The young man behind the bar was friendly and knew the prices before ringing them in the till.
We were made to feel very welcome and this is nice when you have a child in tow. The drinks were much cheaper than at my local and the pub had a lovely feel to it.
It was clean and tidy throughout as were the ladies, (I cannot speak for the gents).
We would certainly go there again. A lovely warm, friendly, family pub.

I don't know what it is about this area. The lanlords all seem to think that old folk (and there are lots of 'em in the town) have no taste buds and are happy to pay through the nose for microwaved tat. I believe the rooms are good but the food is awful. I've had the misfortune to be taken there a few times and honestly the standard has dropped each time. Eventually my wife + kids mutinied and stated they would rather not eat than have Nan waste her money again. Thus I'm afraid we've been there for the last time. Beer is ok and prices are average but believe me, there are better out there.

Working in the area, stayed here twice. Rooms are spotless, Food in the restaurant is good. Pub is a busy community type, locals are friendly, staff are great.

Beer choice Limited and the usual South of England stuff it's served flat and lifeless, but very well kept.

I wouldn't use it on a crawl but as a work stopover would definitely recommend it... One last note though for work there's no internet!

Very friendly local, nicely decorated and excellent food. Handy for a walk on the beach to walk off your meal too.

The Elmer has recently been re-furbished to a high standard with a comfortable lounge area and a no smoking restaurant. The Elmer now has five en-suite bed & breakfast rooms, with dogs welcome by arrangement.
