user reviews of the Trout Inn, Lechlade

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Popped in today about 1130 and had a nice pint of Doombar, shame that Enterprise Inns don't let them stock any local beers, especially as Sharps are now owned by Moulson Coors. Dogs appreciated the rest. Worth a visit. Can be rancidly busy in the Summer.

Since my last review, I have been lucky enough to spend many hours in this pub. It really is one of the very best pubs that England has to offer in my experience.

I can be heaving in the summer and practically empty in the winter. But all year round you'll get a good welcome, lovely food and top ale.

Being where it is it's quite touristy and a must for the boating crowd on the Thames and is therefore not cheap.

In my mind, it's often worth paying a little more for a good experience and the Trout never falls short of expectations.
It's one of the best small venues for Jazz and other music in a very wide area (several counties).

Great pub, very busy in summer, but who minds that when you can sit by the river in the sun. (lets hope we get some this year) Lovely cosy bar in winter with heart warming stews and traditional grub. Well kept beers, only 2 in winrter, but 3 in summer according to friendly bar lady. Live music on the last night night we went, with a fantastic young band who apparently had some link to Steve Winwood of Traffic fame. Good all round pub. Bit pricey on food compared to other places in village but you get what you pay for - can't fault sunday roast

Nice traditional pub in a good riverside location. Food consistently good but pricey.

Friendly service. Gets packed at the weekend in summer, but in quieter times can be a great pub to relax in and let the world go by.

No local ales unfortunately, but some excellent Cornish beers (Doombar). Guinness a bit variable.

Highly recommended.

Great pub for a Summer sunny afternoon, try going when the steam fair is on in june. Regular jazz sessions, not tried the food, seems to be a Sharpes Brewery outlet these days, but beer is always good. Not in Lechlade, about 1 mile walk down the Faringdon road.

Visited on Saturday, absolutely lovely. Weather was good, food was great (we had the special trout and whole seabass, cheesecake for afters). Even though I'm not an ale man I noticed there were some. Bit expensive on the drinks side but the food was reasonable. My only (tiny) complaint was that they didn't do a cheese board to finish off, which was a bit strange as they had 3 different cheese ploughmans. Invest in some biscuits for cheese and I'm in heaven.

Traditional pub, with an extremely friendly welcome, superb food, which is well worth the wait if it's busy in the summer(which it appears to be every time i've visited) as it's all freshly cooked. Large garden overlooking the river for when the sun shines, and cosy real fires for those cold winter months. Would recommend it and will definately be returning.

A great pub on the Thames. We have visited this quite unique pub on a few occasions now and have found service, staff and quality to be brilliant. Live Jazz once or twice a week, open fires great menu and massive portions. This is not your 40 a meal pub nor is it a horrible chain it has a lovely feel and a huge garden backing on to the Thames. Not a huge selection of real ales but enough to enjoy. Busy in the summer.
