Architecturally stunning pub. Perfect example of a Victorian Boozer.

Less than impressed with a cloudy Hobsons though. And I was the only punter, with Cold Play on the PA.

I would give it the benefit of the doubt and come back if in the area.

Still unchanged and a pleasant little oasis of a pub but the beer selection was pretty poor (Adnams broadside being the most adventurous of three ales on)

Architecturally, this place is a gem. Lots of coloured tiling on the walls, stained and leaded glass in the windows, leather upholstered seating, bare floorboards, etc. Fronting onto the street, there is one small room with a curved bar, with room for about 3 tables. Behind that there is a room with looks just like someone’s Victorian parlour, plus a snug off to the side, and another room behind.

Unfortunately, the beer doesn’t live up to the surroundings. There are 4 handpumps. When I was there one was (temporarily) out of use, and the others had beer by Marstons, Hobsons and Wadworth. I tried the Wadworth 6X, which was reasonable, but it took the surly barman a couple of goes to top it up.

There was also background music palying, which normally I detest, but this time it was jazz which makes a pleasant change.

6/10 – nice pub, shame about the beer

The name and the fancy exterior could give the impression that it`s some sort of Italian coffee house but no it`s a nice little boozer with a range of ales - well worth a visit.

Old-school boozer with an interesting interior. Enjoyed a pint of local AJ's Stuck in the Mud Stout. Decent prices for its central location. Serves proper cobs at £1.50. Worth a visit. 7/10.

Decent pub this. Impressive interior and good choice of ales on at the bar. A bit lifeless when we went in though

Lunchtime 23/4/14: Great real ales and traditional bar but seems to be a pub run by a student for students. Five at the bar, four leave and return with takeaway meals including tins of pop. More an extension of the students refrectory than a pub on this visit.

A real contrast to most of the modern style pubs/bars that I walked past in the town centre; a good range of well kept beers and friendly staff. The customers were a real mixed bag of young and old. A traditional drinkers pub.

had a fabulous pint with the rest of the Marzipan Haters, a really different type of pub. well worth a look.
darkman1828 - 4 May 2013 13:57
I would agree that this normally excellent pub now needs a bit of a facelift - some of the fixtures and fittings are in need of repair/refurbishment and some of the afternoon customers reminded me of the worst of Wetherpsoons! However, the beer was good enough and the barmaid was cheery. It is a classic pub of its type and should be seen. Discount for CAMRA members (my pint of Lancaster Blonde was £3.05 without the discount).

A bit old-fashioned and shabby but none the worse for that. Absolutely packed on Boxing Day as Wolves were at home, so not too comfortable a drinking experience but the beer was fine and the atmosphere OK. The exterior reminded us of the Cottage in Cardiff and the John O'Gaunt in Lancaster, a nice if dated style which leads into a deep interior much bigger inside than expected.

What used to be a great pub is now an old mans pub, in dire need of a spruce up. Tiny place that has a lot of character, could just do with a bit of TLC. Beer is good though.
martwolves - 23 Nov 2012 16:52
Another one of my favorite pubs in Wolvo. It didn't have the usual choice of real ale that it normally has but the Doombar was different. It could do with a lick of paint though but apart from that it's an unusual little pub in the heart of Wolverhampton.

Nothing wrong with this place (which a dozen years ago was a gem) that would not be cured by industrial-strength cleaning, complete redecoration and refurbishment, removal of the surly thug who was presiding when I visited and the provision of a reasonable selection of ales at Wolverhampton prices. It has been ruined.
joegreen - 16 May 2012 17:41
Fairly small Wolverhampton pub with plenty of character. The place was fairly quiet when I entered. So I managed to grab one of the few seats in the front bar, enabling me to admire the old interior with its leaded windows, patterned ceiling, tiled walls, bare floorboards and wood & glass bar. A rear bar seemed fairly basic and was playing loud music. Within a few minutes the place began to fill up and I got the impression I had arrived at just the right time. Real ales on were Rudgate Viking, Enville Ale, Deuchars IPA, Sharps Doom Bar, Shepherd Neame Spitifre and Wells Bombardier. I particularly enjoyed the Mr Whiteheads Midnight Special Perry. A very nice pub to which I shall return, despite the 'home fans only' sign!

OK range of tidy beers. Friendly bar staff. Place is a bit grubby but interesting bar gallery. Worth a visit.
LickeyEndBooze - 20 Mar 2011 14:45
Went to pub this evening for the first time. Great original tiled frontage, but let down by shabby interior, especially the skanky carpet, paint peeling off the walls, and the need for a more efficient glass washer. The staff were very friendly, and the beer and cider were very nice, butchoicelimited. Very disappointed and won't rush back in a hurry.
Viki247 - 1 Nov 2010 20:05
Found it busy and one of the few old bars with character in Wolves. Was late in the day and the missus was badgering me to move on so had to scull up and make a move. Can't remember what I drank in here but it went down well.

20 years ago, this was a great pub and it use ti 'heave'. Now it's just a run down dump serving questionable quality ales. Best avoided.
wolvesfan - 28 Oct 2010 12:49
The worst pint I've had for ages. The pub needs decorating and new management. This Pub should a gem, not to be missed.
hartlepool - 30 Sep 2010 08:41
Dreadful beer, dirty glass and very rude barmaid. Avoid at all costs
moominmart - 19 Sep 2010 19:16
Poor quality beer. A big disappointment. Must do better.
dableywolf - 21 Aug 2010 20:52
An unusual, characterful little pub. Six real ales were available when I visited - I chose the Moorhouses Black Cat which was superb! The bar staff were also efficient and friendly. My only complaint was that the place could do with a good clean and a new carpet.
ace1973 - 15 Aug 2010 09:02
First time in here on a visit to wolverhampton, be my last as well beer quality very poor.
bellevueace - 28 Jun 2010 23:25
Limited range of beers on yesterday - Theakstons OP plus Featherstones. Still well worth a visit though.
cheshirecat - 26 Jun 2010 10:01
The 1st time i went into the Posada about 12 years ago a fight broke out between 2 punters who had had a little to much to drink but that didn't put me off the place. A Proper old fashioned pub in the heart of Wolverhampton, too many pubs today have style but no substance and the Posada isn't one of them and that's probably why the alcopop crowd never go in there which is definitely a plus point, yesterday they had on London Pride, Black Sheep, Old Speckled Hen, the Old Speckled Hen wasn't settling so the bar maid happily changed it for a pint of London Pride which was very nice.
Ispy - 20 Dec 2009 12:43
Only 3 out of 6 handpulls in use last night but the Abbot, Davenport and Saltaire Brewrey Stein Gold brews were on fine form and with the CAMRA discount your can't complain!
stevane - 27 Nov 2009 11:11
Small well-preserved traditional pub in the city centre. There's plenty of architectural note, with the curved front windows and riot of dark wood panelling and green seats, creating a properly pubby atmopshere, although it has been opened out a bit (in 1983 according to the GBG). Two main rooms, the bar room and a back room, with traditional furnishings throughout. The back room has a (gas) fire and several small intimate alcoves leading off from it, a nice touch. Small TVs show sport. Clientele a mixture of older folk and couples on my Saturday visit, generally a mature environment.
Beer-wise, mostly dark beers, with St Austell tribute, Fireside Warmer and Doom Bar (I think!). My Fireside was well kept and enjoyable. Not a bad choice of beers but doesn't match the Great Western.
All in all though I think this is a great traditonal pub, definitely one of the city centre's finest and second only to the legendary GW. 5 mins walk from the station. Not open Sundays, as I found out the hard way!
Carlurmston - 23 Nov 2009 13:54
A few of my friends like this place, I don't really know why. Only been in there once, wasn't my cup of tea. Dark and cramped. Although the beer garden was OK. A mediocre place.
DaveRoss - 2 Nov 2009 03:50
Always worth a visit when in Wolves - good selection of reasonably priced beers, friendly staff and a pub with character.
cheshirecat - 1 Oct 2009 10:27
Quality Victorian pub. The second calling on our Metro pub crawl and a lovely pint of Enville ale set us up for the next stop on our descent into beerageddon.
Highly recommended.
whitmorereans - 5 Jul 2009 19:42
A truly lovely victorian pub. The beer seems to be well kept and the staff are frinedly. Be warned it's small and gets very cramped on match days.
whitmorereans - 21 Jun 2009 17:18
A neat little pub in what is not exactly an inspiring City centre.Very pleasant lady behind the bar.No mild but a pleasant dark beer from Titanic was available.tasty too!

oldandmild - 11 Jun 2009 08:41
RogerB gives a great physical description of the place below. The lady behind the bar was really friendly and i felt welcome

It has been a good while since i have seen MILD in here and has meant i have visited infrequently. There were 6 ales on, as well as usual stuff. JW Lees Gold Digger (decent), Titanic Lifeboat (very nice) and Farmer's Half, Hook Norton's Old Hooky, Deuchars IPA and Bombardier.

Archivist - 7 Jun 2009 12:00
Certainly a pub with character. Evan Evans Warrior, Black Sheep Bitter, Deuchars IPA, Bombardier, Brains and real cider. Discount for CAMRA members.
GuideDogSaint - 2 May 2009 10:38
Lovely victorian town centre pub with good beer.
stymaster - 31 Jan 2009 21:40
Called in again last night. Had a pint of Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted which was very nice. 20p off my pint as I had remembered my CAMRA membership card this time. New quiz machine installed since my last visit. So far so good. Then I visited the gents for the first ever time. What a mess. Dirty and smelly, didn't look like they'd been even wiped down for at least a week, never mind cleaned properly. Disgusting. Do something about it guys. Rating goes down a point or two.
ROBCamra - 29 Jan 2009 09:50
Nice little town centre local with several cask ales on tap. I had a pint of the Fyne Gold. I'd forgotten my CAMRA membership card so no discount for me. The beer was well kept though. Well worth a visit.
ROBCamra - 2 Dec 2008 15:51
Nice pints of East Green and Spitfire last night with at least another 4 well known cask ales I didn't get to try. Nice little pub in heart of Wolverhampton.
stevane - 27 Nov 2008 10:55
Small.
Mikael88 - 19 Nov 2008 22:53
Discount with you CAMRA card. Not much but then you have to drink more to save more!

Great real pub!
floydette - 29 Oct 2008 14:50
Nice friendly pub with a good choice of beers, Timothy Taylor, Adnams Broadside, London Pride, etc.Loses a point for no mild especially as it used to have Tetley mild.Dr's verdict - get in there.

gone seriously down-hill in my opinion with the latest take-over.
blueghost - 4 Jun 2007 12:40
I love this pub to bits much better than poncy yates or any other of the stupid overpriced bars. Lovely staff and landlord they even do cocktails!!
amiebimbo - 10 Mar 2007 11:50
Lovely pub and great interior. A guest beer would have been welcome but I did enjoy the quality of the beer served. I called around 12 so it was quiet, but I was able to have a look round.

Formerly known as the Noahs Ark Inn, The Pasada is apparently the oldest pub in Wolverhampton depending on what web site you read. It certainly has some fine features, not least the faade with its bow window and some exquisite lettering of the sort gradually being lost to modern funky branding. The interior consists of front and rear bars although they are quite small and tables are at a premium. The L shaped front bar has lots of old tiling and ornate dark coloured plaster work on the high ceilings. The elaborate bay window has built in seats and a good view of the TV which usually displays subtitles. They were playing decent Indie music when I was there which is always worth an extra point over the bland R&B clubby music that seems to infiltrate so many pubs. Through the arch is a slightly larger but plainer rear bar with a handsome fireplace and a couple of recesses for an intimate pint. A big screen projects directly onto the plain white wall as opposed to a screen. One of the big plusses was the variety of Ales - 6 available on my visit: Spitfire, Landlord, Abbott, Deuchers, Bombardier, Adnams although it would have been nice to have seen at least 1 local brew. Overall a pretty decent pub and not the sort of place I was hoping to come across on my brief visit. Will definitely return if around this area again.

Love this pub, graet landlord, relaxed atmostphere, lively at weekends!

I'm with you Stus.search.4.mild.
The last time I had a pint of mild in here it was c***.
Nearly put me off Teltey's mild for good till a cracking pint was had in the Blue Bell, York.
The Posada is off my list and advice to any mild drinkers,do as I do: NO MILD WALK OUT.
nomild_walkout_mac - 5 May 2006 16:59
Nice pub, pleasant customers, occassionally have MILD but no MILD recently so have had to walk straight out to head for the Great Western and a pint of Holdens MILD.
Stus.search.4.mild - 1 May 2006 23:27
A listed building with tiled
interior and exterior, and a good selection of ales. The name is Spanish
for "inn" -- there is a "Crown Posada" in Newcastle.
