This place is hell on earth. I used to visit York regularly and always stayed here but never again; it is run by the most unscrupulous dregs of the earth and has been reported to the authorities. We visited this pub early evening on Friday. We stayed for a few drinks as the beer was good, the staff were friendly and they were playing 60s/70s music.

Nice to have a cold pint of Strongbow in the beer garden next to the stream/river, prices creeping up

We,ve just got back from our 2nd visit this year and I have to say it was brilliant, The Five Lions is a wonderful place to stay, the rooms are excellent and the staff are fantastic. The pub itself is so central to everywhere within York and we have booked to go back again just before christmas and I dare say we,l be going again next year. Well done to all the staff

A fairly local pub, but pleasant enough for visitors. Often has the football on large screens in my experience, which can be off putting, but great if that is what you like!! They also do rooms and have hand pulled ales as I recall.
