I think that Merlinstica sums it up very well. You really can't say fairer than that.

I was passing this pub and got a smile from the barmaid who was outside watering the plants, so decided to pop in. It's a friendly little pub where you can lean against the bar and chat with the locals (despite me being a London tourist), like people used to in old 1940s films, probably starring Stanley Holloway. It's deceptively large, because there's an upstairs room as well as a small yard out the back. Well worth a visit, I went a couple of times while staying in the area.

One of Hasting's finest, great staff, excellent beer and a great atmosphere. Lots of real local characters who will make you fill more then wellcome.

This is probably the most attractive pub in Hastings. A beautiful tudor beamed exterior leads through into a cozy single bar pub with wood panelling on the wall. There is a lovely snug on the left as you go in and there were bar snacks on the day I visited. The beer was excellent - Hastings Best Bitter in beautiful condition. I would recommend popping in on one's way to the F.I.L.O. (and again on the way back!)

Always friendly with an interesting mix of locals. I always try the ESB.

Had a wonderful few pints of Harveys Best in this pub as I had found myself kind of stuck in Hastings - It was a classic cosy, low beamed affair with also an ESB at the bar. The barstaff had a great rapport with the punters (regulars) but were very happy to engage in anyone new entering the pub. I have absolutely no complaints about this pub - very pleased.

Not a bad little pub, the landlady and locals at the bar were friendly and a nice place to have a quiet pint. Harveys Best and ESB on offer.

Lovely, friendly, cosy boozer .... mostly locals ... Slightly spoilt by the rugby as not huge sports fan ... but great service courtesy of lovely barmaid and Harvey's was excellent.

No food on at the moment because neighbours are complaining about the proposed fan / trunking for the re-furbed kitchen.

Still, very much worth a detour to search it out.

Dark, unpretensious pub. Looks like it is undergoing a makeover, hopefully it is just a paint job. Beer is Nice, not good, beer garden out back makes me want to be sick, 5/10

Came in here in March after the Hastings Half. It's a woozy wood and brick ale house of considerable charm. ESB and Harvey's Best on offer. Sunday roast spuds on the counter as a free snack.

A good old fashioned boozer. Tables are heavy and a bit ugly. Score sort of hovered between 7 and 8. Settled on 7.
