Lovely pints, food very expensive but we didn’t eat here so can’t comment on quality. Owner was doing weekend menu while we were in, driven by what he’d bought so I guess it’ll all be fresh.
Frenchman owner, very nice guy. Got talking to locals and had a right good time. Very quiet even on Thursday night. I assume it’s mostly restaurant trade. Nothing notable about interior.
Local CAMRA bod reckoned it was as good as anywhere local.

It's okay but not somewhere I'd rant & rave about as an archetypal village local. The York brewery Guzzler had a sharp taste to it (though I suspect that might be how it's supposed to be like), the Hooky Bitter was a nice pint though. It's on the 'main' road as opposed to being in the village and about a 20 minute walk from Heyford station. Just about worth the walk.

Lovely pub. One of the few places I regularly drink ale (like a mini beer festival every week - always a different cask on tap). Good food is slow to arrive but who cares when you can sit by the fire and drink good beer with a packet of peanuts and a paper.

French landlord who is into real ale, 10p discount with a Camra card. Not yet tried the food but will this week I hope. Generally a warm welcome when the landlord and lady are behind the bar other than Monday

Now changed Ownership. Even better (especially the Sunday roasts - beef was excellent).

Excellent Beer & food...especially the sausages. Friendly bar staff (provided you make the effort to speak to them).

Very nice but very small old thatched pub, delicious bacon sandwich and pint of Brakspears. CAMRA oriented so other beers (eg Hook Norton)doubtless on good form Main course menu looked OK as well Makes a far more satisfying break from the M40 than the nearby services.
