Place is freezing including my room...Why is the fire not lit in the bar!? Ordered the pate with WARM toast to be given brittle small pieces of toast that looked like they came out of a packet....asked if I could have something warm as per the menu to be offered a ciabatta that would take 5-6 minutes. Not ideal. To add insult to injury the ciabatta was added to the bill.... Nearly £4..When I questioned why it was added I was told "our customers have requested cold toast so that's how we now serve it" ... Suggestion.. CHANGE your menu to read "toast" NOT "warm toast"! Technically false advertising!
Still a little in shock that the proprietor had an attitude and essentially argued with me..which I conveyed to him to be met with more attitude! Essentially I was told to shut up. I actually felt quite threatened as a single female staying alone..
I stay in Bristol a few times a month and spend at least 45/50% of my week in hotels and I have never been met with such shocking behaviour anywhere in the world! I will avoid this place like the plague! Absolutely disgusting customer service. Do yourself a favour and get out of the hospitality trade or avoid being front of house!!

Delightful village pub under new management. Open for just five weeks, the new owners have already made their own individual mark. Stylish and atmospheric with cosy interior and beautiful gardens overlooking Bristol. Friendly, courteous staff and delicious, locally sourced food - the chef certainly knows his stuff. (Try the divine "to die for" Sticky Toffee Pudding!!). The pub is a five minute drive from the airport so great for an overnight stay in one of the two comfortable and well appointed rooms should you have an early flight. Winter visits will be equally inviting with lunch, dinner or a leisurely drink by the open fire. All in all, a great find and one I shall be returning to many times.

.... oh I forgot to mention I had the most fantastic Sunday Roast yesterday with my friend and the roast potatoes were just perfect especcially as this is the most important dish on my plate when it comes to a roast dinner and the Sticky Toffee Pudding is to die for :-) well done Chef

Beautiful location and excellent food and friendly staff -would recommend this pub for any occasion and at this time of year it has an excellent garden with views. This is an excellent location to stay the night before an early flight from Bristol Airport - Will be back guys. Christine

Now under new management after an extensive refurbishment. Great atmosphere with friendly service, home cooked food, cask conditioned real ales, fine wines, en-suite accommodation, beer garden with fabulous views, meeting room

Very poor Sunday lunch. Overpriced and portions really small, roast potatoes hard and dry, burnt Yorkshires and veg on some plates not what it said on the menu. Complained to waiter who was not interested. The room was cold as well, I would have sent the food back or refused to pay if it was not my sons birthday

Ate there on a Monday evening. Our olives, dip and bread were removed before we'd finished, even as my wife was still eating them, because our mains arrived. My casoulette contained a chunk of pork belly, which was 80% fat and tasteless, and duck which was dry and stringy. It tasted simply of hard beans with spice. Quantity was small. My wife had duck breast which we considered small for the price we paid. The puddings were excellent, albeit expensive. Butcombe at 3.30 a pint is the most I've ever paid. Decor was drab and needs colour. Waiter was overbearing and needed to chill out. We know other pubs/restaurants locally which serve better food at less cost. Is it an attempt at fine dining that doesn't work? A disappointment and we won't be going again.

Visited at lunchtime. Friendly new owner (only there for 9 weeks, apparently, two of them doing up the pub.) Pub certainly smarter than I remember from a few years back - including the loos. Three local real ales on, Bath Gem, Wickwar's B.O.B (neither tried); we liked the Butcombe Bitter we had. A wide range of lunchtime food - presentation, quality & style like a gastropub, but not the prices (two main dishes and a pint and a half for under 20?)

Good location right in the centre of the village opposite the church. Pub looks quite attractive from the outside, but is rather dated. It could definitely do with a bit of TLC, especially the loos. Decent sized beer garden.

The top bars probably the better of the two with an attractive tiled floor, although the lower one is a good size extending around the corner. Theres a dart board and a plasma TV above it. There are a few prints dotted around the walls, many of them for sale. Reasonable looking pub grub menu, although a bit on the pricey side, e.g.; 9 for a chilli or lasagne.

In spite of five hand pumps on the bar, there were only two beers on offer Butcombe and Courage Best. The cider was Stowford Press. This has got the potential to be a great village pub, but at the moment it doesnt quite make it unfortunately.
