Recently taken on by enthusiastic & accommodating Irish landlord. An old stone building on the edge on this straggling village. Unfortunately, the interior is smaller than it looks from the outside, which can lead to a delay in getting served. The emphasis is on food, but people who just pop in for a drink are very welcome.
There is an extensive range of food on offer, all the way from “cheesy chips” upwards. Our party of five on two visits has only just begin to scratch the surface of the menu ! There are starters (soup, olive board, calamari), burgers, pasta and roasts . Prices are not cheap, but are reasonable considering the location. Quality is excellent, and food is well presented. Only word of warning I would give is - don’t expect a starter on its own to be sufficient to assuage your hunger pangs !
Despite what CAMRA’s Whatpub website would have you believe, this is a Wadworth pub. Our two visits there have both seen 6X and Henry’s IPA available, plus another pump “turned around”. Also serve Wadworth’s Corvus Stout on keg – but not Guinness !
Finally, there is a garden where you can sit to drink, but I wouldn’t recommend eating outside due to the slope !
7/10 – better than average, but not a worldbeater.

We first visited this pub at around 2:40pm on a Friday afternoon, at which point it had closed. After touring around some of the south Cotswold villages, we returned for its 6pm re-opening and enjoyed a good meal in a friendly pub with an all local clientele. Thoroughly enjoyed the pie of the day (Heidi - goat's cheese, sweet potato, garlic, spinach and red onion, served with mashed potato and some lovely minted mushy peas) and the dessert medley - strawberry tower, chocolate brownie and lime sorbet. Apparently I was the first to have tried the medley! Beers were all from the Wadworth range - Henry's IPA, 6X & Old Timer. Cider was Stowford Press. Would happily recommend.

Recently under new management. good selection of Wadworths, and a frequently changed guest beer. Good food menu, well presented and good puddings. I saw that they also do take away fish and chips! well worth the effort of finding it.

A decent local - although at first glance it looks rather odd, next to a huge carpark and skip and with the pub set on its side.
6X was well kept, but it still closes for a few hours Saturday PM - rather unusual these days, especially with a croud of 20 odd walkers, 4 of us and a few local girls. The enormous log-burner looked like it could double as a blast-furnace, so it was perhaps as well it wasn't lit the day we visited.

Under the same management for several years which is always a good sign. Food first-rate, and the real ales.

we went to this pub last saturday for lunch while we were out walking. the food was great and the staff were really nice to us and were really good with our children.we both had a pint of Archers best which was kept really well.
