Awful pretentious chav wannabe haunt charging central London prices because there are no other pubs around. All the handpumps were turned round so had the Camden IPA (5.55 a pop)

The drinks are pricey but there is very little pub competition in Radlett. However its a nice place and the staff are good. The barman called Pete is an absolute star and sets the standard against which all other bar staff should be measured. Every pub should have a 'Pete'.

Friendly welcoming atmosphere, good helpful staff - very nice for a post-work pint.

Agree with the comments on it being a little pricey however!

Convenient for the station, and well worth a visit all in all.

To be recommended

I popped back to the Red Lion with family this weekend and was welcomed by a wonderful roaring fire which was needed as it was a very cold day.

There was 5 of us and 2 large dogs. We were all made welcome and they provided water and lots of fuss for the dogs. 2 of our party were vegetarian and were happy with the choices and the rest of us had either burger, steak or pie.

The service at the bar was friendly and fast and the food was great. The burger was fantastic and was one of the best burgers I've had. My brother had the pie and said it was fabulous.

We were there for nearly 3 hours and the pub was fairly quiet to start but got quite busy. My brothers tried the real ale and said it was very good.

This is one of my favourite pubs and it keeps on getting better. Great food and service, dog friendly and a real fire - perfect!

Ive just been back to the newly spruced up Red Lion and its great! One thing I loved was the lampshades... about 30 different styles. Unusual and not the standard run of your mill pub make over.

The new decor is quirky and fun and I like that they've opened it all up. I stayed for a meal - only just though, as it was so busy on Sunday. I had the traditional roast and it was lovely - came with a whopping big proper Yorkshire Pudding and lovely gravy.

They must have a new chef as there was lots of lovely dessert choices but no chocolate! Come on - give us some chocolate puddings! My sister had the risotto and said it was great. I booked for Mothers Day and it was nearly full already.

The Manager is the same and even though they were busy, I got good service.

A nice pint of Youngs (at a price) but this place feels less and less like a pub and more and more like a hotel bar on each visit. The large restaurant area was desolate - not a soul in the place. In a short space of time Radlett seems tohave lost all it's pubs.

Yes it expensive and yes, it needs a makeover but the staff are lovely (now) and I like the food. The lunch offer they have started doing is very good value and everything I've had has been very tasty and full of flavour. I've had the Gammon - yum, the duck confit - very yum, and regularly have the chicken club which is my personal favourite.

The staff are helpful and friendly and when I went in with my sister who has allergies to everything, they were great and did a special meal for her - no complaints, no problems and lots of smiles. I like the manager - he's always been friendly and pleasant.

However, it seriously needs a make over as long as they don't change the food!

Peroni 4.10 a pint !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is getting bloody ridiculous !

Food was reasonably priced but devoid of a lot of taste - the chicken fillet burger was clearly a cheaper supermarket breast devoid of taste and the chips looked like they had seen better days.

No atmosphere at all in here - you can do a lot better in Radlett though the seating area out the front is ok for watching lots of very noisy traffic go by !

Fairly large hotel/restaurant/pub handy for Radlett station. It's a Young's establishment with Young's Bitter, Special and London Gold all available. We tried the Sunday lunches which were ok, but not the best value for money. The separate restaurant looked as if it may have been a better option. But this was not open when we arrived. I preferred the Cat & Fiddle up the road.

Good food, a good selection of real ale. Quiet.

Soulless and at 11.40 for two pints of Nastro Azzuro and a GT laughably over priced.

This place has a slightly odd atmosphere, but really it's a hotel bar rather than a proper pub. Service is good and the beers are well kept: the full range of Youngs ales, including Waggledance, which I rather overdosed on. Nurse, the screens!

Been in here a couple of times recently and the beer and food was good. Its much better than its whitbread days.Somehow not got the best pub atmosphere though.

According to Youngs' website, the Red Lion "dates back to" 1906.

Was wondering if anyone knew how old this pub is as I am researching my family tree and my ggrandfather was licenced victualler of Red Lion in the parish of Aldenham in 1881 and I was wondering if this was the one. Thanks in advance for anyone's help

not a pub to watch the world cup, more for your oap, drinks were very pricy, went to a pub called Brookes up the road and had a great night and the drinks were cheaper

Large, rambling bar (with restaurant) underneath the hotel. The beer is still Youngs: Bitter, Special and Waggledance are all available.
This place is too big to be your friendly "local", but it's well run and a useful place to know.

Much improved since the Beefeater dyas. Beer kept well.

great food in the dining rooms!!

Now a good Youngs (hotel) pub - fine selection of ales and wines.

Large dining area - which always seems quite busy when I visit the establishment.

Friendly and responsive staff.

I couldn't and wouldn't give a comparison to the nearby Railway Pub - this place is a different world.

It's no longer a Beefeater and now has "The Dining Rooms" restaurant attached.

Well kept ale...place for some out of town indiscretion.

a beefeater....clean, friendly and (at the moment) efficient. a "local" pub with a fair amount of passing trade. decent bar food, beer good. they don't tolerate swearing at an audible level which is commendable.
